Ossuary (Cut the Act) is an AU for my previous fic, Cenotaph— A branching path in which Jax is saved from near-abstraction, and everything, quite literally, falls apart.

The plot is highly self-indulgent— Meaning it's steeped in psychological, cosmic, and liminal horror, filled with character exploration / development, and there's lots of suffering, some dark comedy, and yes, some sweet moments too~ <3

(Summary)

It's almost peaceful, walking through the ruins of the Circus.

Without the obnoxious background music and constant distractions, it's nearly relaxing! Just don't think about the quiet. Don't question why Jax hasn't spoken in days. Ignore Gangle sniffling every few minutes. Don't look at Zooble fussing with their limbs for the fifty-seventh time today. Pretend that Pomni isn't constantly shaking. Don't acknowledge Ragatha keeping a hand on Kinger's shoulder so he doesn't wander off. Don't think about the things that might be lurking around every corner. Don't think about Caine. Don't think about that night.

It's almost peaceful.

Almost.
