#comfortable lovers

"I wonder," she murmured, fingertips tracing the line where crystal met skin. The Exarch shivered, lain deliciously bare under her touch.  Aether danced there, as she considered. "Do you suppose I could attune to you? Find my home, wheresoever you've wandered?"

He scratched her ears, drawing a contented purr from her throat. "I haven't the strength to wander as I once did. I'm afraid I won't be terribly hard to find."

"That's for the best," she smiled, resting her cheek on his chest. "I'd rather neither of us was left alone for long, not now we've found one another again."

"'M fine," she mumbled, burying her head into Iksa's chest to stop the world from spinning so much. "'S just the aether, you know that."

She was, in fact, not fine. Okhi's aether had never been strong. Unaided, it took heroic effort to teleport across town. Her skill with the dark arts was at least partly owed to the fact she'd learned ways to cheat the cost, as even weak spellwork drained her meager reserves.

After the Whitening, she could barely follow in the wake of another adventurer's path.
