#comedy debate

The idea that comedians and critics would debate anything is a pretty surefire to have one very, spirited, intense, hilarious conversation as it will be for Vulture/NeueHouse’s Comedians vs Critics Emmys Debate Live.

This particular line-up of Demi Adejuyigbe, Jamie Loftus, Max Silvestri and then, Jordan Crucchiola, Dave Schilling, and Bethy Squires debating the upcoming Emmys really ought to be something. Perhaps, they’ll debate the Emmys going without a host once again or egregious snubs or political grandstanding in speeches. We’re not sure what the topics will be, but it’ll be a good time for sure.

Straw Men is, without a doubt, one of our new favorite shows of the year in how it puts many of the funniest people in LA to have the most absurd debates ever using the dumbest arguments and childish tactics possible.

While name-calling, the title-inspiring “straw man”, tangential insults, etc. are not at all productive in real debates between politicians that steer the course of policy at any level, it’s pretty damn fun to watch comedians do it in a theater.

  I was in another comedic debate, this one on the topic of eating children. (Yum! So tasty!)

It was a close battle, with good points being made on both sides.

The main points for not eating children is that they’re small, so you don’t get very much return for your effort, and also that children are very expensive to maintain, so eating them isn’t a very good financial plan.
