Okay so here’s the line art - please be kind to yourself and mind the gaps - Colour Drop works best if there is very little or no gaps in the lines, otherwise the colour leaks all over (there’s a way around this by using the lasso and only Colour Dropping into that lasso’d area but let’s be kind to ourselves and make our art lives a little bit easier)

Just find your line art that you want to colour (I forgot to turn off the Monocle layers for this):

Tap and hold on the layer to open this side bar and select “Reference”. You’ll see Reference under your layer’s name:

From here select another BLANK layer. Under the Line layer will look the best but play around with what works for you:

Grab your colour. If it’s coming from the Reference Image press and hold until the top of the circle is the colour you want (the bottom colour is the current colour):

Hop back to the top right and press and hold the colour blob (this was very tricky to do while screengrabbing):

Now keeping that hold, move the colour blob to where you want to fill with colour. See that blue progress bar in the left? I’ll talk about that in a moment:

Hold the colour on the area and POOF off she goes and fills in the area for you like magic! ColourDrop works by attacking the lines, you can adjust the intensity when you are holding a colour blob by keeping your stylus on the screen and moving it to the right to increase the strength or move it to the left to decrease the strength. You’ll see the “ColorDrop Thesehold” number go up or down accordingly:

Continue working around the art. The layer will look at little funny, well I think it looks funny:

The only real pitfall with using ColourDrop is that it works best if the line art has no gaps, otherwise colour leaks everywhere.

ColorDrop es una estupenda herramienta que permite a los desarrolladores o diseñadores que en muchas ocasiones se ven obligados a modificar la interfaz gráfica del sitio web o que debido a nuevos requerimientos deben experimentar con nuevas matices o tonalidades de colores que se ajusten a los gustos de los clientes. ColorDrop nace como una excelente propuesta que permite facilitar el proceso de cambiar el color de una pagina web con unos simples clic y de forma muy sencilla.

ColorDrop esta disponible de forma gratuita como extensión para Google Chrome con posibilidad de usar la herramienta directamente desde un marcador que se incrusta en el navegador Google Chrome.

Una vez instalada la extensión en su navegador Google Chrome, el funcionamiento de ColorDrop es muy fácil e intuitivo. Ingresamos al sitio web que deseamos experimentar o modificar los colores a modo de prueba con el fin de perfeccionar su interfaz, en la parte superior derecha del navegador podrá ubicar el marcador de la extensión, al hacer clic sobre el se despliega la paleta de colores; es tan simple que basta con seleccionar el color deseado y arrastrarlo sobre el elemento que deseamos modificar, tal como se muestra en la siguiente animación que ilustra el manejo de ColorDrop.

Una de las principales ventajas de ColorDrop, es que podemos cambiar el color de todos los elementos del sitio web y visualizar en tiempo real el resultado, sin duda alguna esta es una excelente herramienta de gran utilidad que todo desarrollador y diseñador debe de tener entre su lista recursos web disponibles.

ColorDrop tiene soporte con los navegadores modernos como Google Chrome y funciona mejor en las versiones mas recientes que apoyan las transiciones. Para todos los navegadores no admitidos, la extensión no hace nada y retrocesos a un comportamiento normal sin ninguna manipulación explícita en el código. Es de código abierto con licencia tipo MIT, su código fuente esta disponible en GitHub.
