Through trial and error, I can finally issue AT commands to a US Robotics modem via raspberry pi. Right now, I'm trying to create a shell server accessible via dialup, so that I can access my web server and other equipment using vintage machines that have modems.
Next step is to have a getty session follow an auto-answer on incoming calls.
Oh, and I used my Toshiba Libretto 70CT as part of the debugging process. I've also got to do some cable cleanup for my server infrastructure. This is in anticipation of my fancy new Dell Poweredge R620 becoming my new VM host, freeing my old R610 to become an off-site backup.
