Somebody save us because we’re not listening.
we poisoned ourselves with caffeine
chained ourselves to our desks
etched formulas and facts unto our bodies
but you see our heads are hollow
every day we find ourselves crawling
slaves to numbers and pieces of paper
do you realize
how much we’ve given up
do you realize
that we are losing time
that as we are smiling
we are tightening the nooses around our necks
we are looking for the tallest, sturdiest trees
just to be able to stand
a few feet above the rest
