I need some serious help here, people.

And I don't want this to be an argument over which is 'better', I honestly need some serious thought put into this. I like and dislike both Macs and PC's, that's not the issues here.

I'm going to need a new laptop for college, because the one I have right now is pretty much a cheap peace of crap, albeit one that has served me pretty well over the years.

I'm going to major in animation; my computer is going to need top-of-the-line graphics abilities, high-quality screen for color viewing, high-speed processor, lots of memory, WHATEVER you people think are the qualities best needed in a computer of an artist and animator. 

Now, most people would say either a custom PC laptop or something (I don't have any clue about hardware, so I'll have to rely on your expertise) or a Macbook.

Now, I can use Macs no problem. They're good computers that have some things up on PC's, but I'm just more of a PC person; it's the little things about Macs that make me a bit anxious to make a Mac my personal computer. You know, the thing that I'm going to be on 24/7. 

There are little things about Macs that I just don't like, and I'm not saying they're BAD, but they just don't jive with me personally. Like how 'corporate america' the company is, the mice, the keyboards, little nuisances around the interface that I just can never wrap my head around...

I honestly cannot decide. I know that if I go with the PC alternative, there might be issues. I'm not a computer genius or anything, and I'm an anime fan, I'm not going to go on only trusted sites, what if I get infected? What if my school works all on Macs or something in my classes? 

But if I go with a Mac, what am I going to do when I start wishing I were on a PC? What about the stupid 'corporate America' shit that Apple will probably shove down my throat? Is there a way I can turn the apple experience more PC-person friendly? I'm also far more familiar with the inner workings of a PC, and Mac's confuse me quite often - will I be able to get over that easily, or...?

Cost isn't really an issue; I can afford most anything, and my parents and relatives are willing to spend the money for the kind of high-end computer I'll probably need during school. But obviously, it might be better to avoid something completely outrageous, am I right? 

If you people have any guidance, it would be greatly appreciated.
