“My safety is in my own hands, Jack. It has been since I before I was twenty.” She took the drawstrings of his hoodie in her hands, giving a little tug on them as she softly frowned. “I don’t see a monster in you, and I never could. I’ve dealt with monsters, men corrupted by power and lack thereof. Grief or revenge. And that is not you.”
@colddarkfun
Jack is not the first. No, the original child Pitch had claimed as his own lives high above their heads, now known as the Man in the Moon. Katherine assumes Pitch considers MiM a failure, and now, an obstacle. Next was Nightlight, who also could not be taken and is also, most likely, seen as a error to be eliminated. So far as she can tell, Katherine was the Nightmare King's third attempt to lure a child to the shadows, promising to make her his Darkling Princess. But Katherine had refused that offer. Barely. But finally, finally, Pitch's efforts had been rewarded. Jack had said yes. Fascinated, though troubled, Katherine feels as though she will burst if she does not see this boy of ice and snow; he who commands the North Wind and the leaves as some sort of wild king-- he who reigns as a Darkling Prince in the realm of the Pitch Black. In a way, the youngest Guardian feels guilty. Had she accepted Pitch's claim on her, Jack would be free from his clutches. And yet, that would have been no solution at all, for then her destiny as a Guardian would have been destroyed. But what of Jack's destiny? Torn, Katherine wants to know the fate of the child who now belongs to Pitch. Too curious for her own good, Katherine longs to see what it would have been like, had she taken Jack's place. All the same, she knows she does not envy him. This thought is reinforced when she finds him alone, hands blue and pale, dark brows lowered over his eyes and hidden by thick hair so ragged and rough it looks as though it has been sliced with a knife. For some reason, Katherine had always pictured Pitch never leaving his side, almost smothering him with attention, possessive and hovering like the worst kind of parent-- the kind that intended to make their child in their own image. Solitude seems to settle around Jack quite naturally, however, and she silently wonders how often he and Pitch even interact. Grimly, with a feeling of dread heavy in her stomach, Katherine thinks that this is no life for anyone, not even a foundling like herself; not even for Jack, a boy who no one really missed. Sure that he has heard her boots crunching in the snow by now, she is surprised that he has not turned around. Then Katherine remembers that he expects most people to ignore him because he is unseen. She supposes he is used to doing the same to them. Standing beside him, she opens her mouth to say something, only to find she has no idea where to start. What did one say to a person who had chosen a life that you considered, but happened to be a little less desperate than they, and somehow abstained? "I'm sorry it's like this," or "I know how you feel, he makes a compelling case," were the only things coming to mind, but even Katherine knew you could not say such things-- only Bunnymund could get away with something like that. At a loss, Katherine finally decided to take a seat beside him, and opening the bundle she held in her arms, she placed a large book with beautiful pictures before them on the ground. Opening it to the first few pages, she glanced at him somewhat shyly.
"Do you like stories?" she asked, trying not to choke on the words.

Tooth landed in the branches above the space craft, blooming flowers keeping the bright colors of her wardrobe camouflaged as she crept down closer to the ground. Whoever this was, did they truly think a ship could pass through PunJam’s skies without detection? The sky was where PunJamians lived! Her fingers twitched ready to go for her sword should a dangerous sort of problem arise. She should probably go get Nikra, backup could prove helpful. But by that time whoever was in the shuttle might have made a run for it! Then where would they get answers? With a deep breath Tooth jumped to the ground, landing easily and striding toward the downed spacecraft. “Who’s in there? Did you crash, are you injured?”
As requested, continued with @colddarkfun from this ask.
Tooth worried her lip between her teeth as she shifted behind him, clearing what she could to inspect the damage done. It only made her brows pinch harder together. A deep breath and she continued her work, pressing gauze to the open wounds, the silence growing thick in the air. A soft hum left her lips. An attempt to sooth and possibly lighten the mood. As much as was possible just then.
Moving back in front of Jack, Toothiana checked carefully over his face, brushing his hair back to make sure the red stain wasn’t from an injury on his head. She caught his eye and tried to smile, the expression still looking so very sad for him. “I’m going to wrap it all properly now. You can tell me to stop if it hurts too much.”

He loves her more than he’s loved anything. Knows her more than he’s ever truly known himself. He adores her, as is evident in the way his eyes light up when they find hers. No matter what he is hers as much as he is Pitch’s. It’s what makes moments like these hidden among the stars away from the responsibilities of their positions so much more than just fun memories for them to hold dear. “You’re more beautiful than any memory I can recall…” He says softly, pressing a gentle chilly kiss to her nose. @colddarkfun
Infamous words of Shakespeare echoed in her mind on nights like tonight, when she was in her tragic love's embrace and hiding from the moon's sight. Words of love and promises, and desperate defeats. But then his hands are holding hers, and he looks into her eyes with such desperate affection. The world disappears for but a moment and she smiles. The light touch of his lips on her nose making her exhale a soft laugh. Ever the jokester, even when shadows linger around his eyes. Toothiana traces his cheek with her knuckles, a shy smile as she closes the distance, kissing him softly. Yet again the poetic words go through her mind.
Why art thou yet so fair? Shall I believe That unsubstantial Death is amorous, And that the lean abhorred monster keeps Thee here in dark to be his paramour? For fear of that I still will stay with thee, And never from this palace of dim night Depart again.
