Cherry’s fingernails clacked against the keyboard as she filled out her reports, it had been weeks since she met her new neighbors. She’d been promoted to Assistant Manager at Dewey, Cheatem & Howe Inc. But she couldn’t help but feel out of sorts, ever since her interaction with Saffron. It was so unlike her, anytime she had a second of downtime, she found herself thinking of her green eyes looking down into hers. She felt her palms get sweaty, and a smile spread across her lips. She found herself hoping they would cross paths in the hall, or that she’d hear a familiar knock on her door.
When it finally did, she felt herself melt into a puddle on the floor. When she opened the door, Saffron stood there leaning against the doorframe. “Hey, Cherry.”
Cherry looked up at her with glossy doe eyes, “Hi..”
“There’s this thing tomorrow at Stargazer’s Lounge, I wanted to ask if you wanted to come?” Saffron shifted her gaze, shuffling slightly. Cherry nodded, too nervous to speak. Saffron smiled, “Awesome, I’ll meet you there at 6?” Cherry nodded again, her palms sweating again. Saffron smiled even wider and walked back into her apartment, leaving Cherry melting in the doorway.
