Coffee and humanity

In the past, Basheerah had been called far worse things than flower, and saw no reason at all to object. If anything, she considered it a bit of a compliment. After all, with so many people in Zaun, it seemed unlikely Silco would have nicknames for all, and that meant she’d caught his attention at least somewhat. Basheerah, of course, had never objected to attention. Perhaps she didn’t always return it, but she never objected.
His question as to what she was doing there was answered easily by the offer of coffee. “I so hate to be rude is all. However, if it is Silco you wish, then Silco it is.” Hearing the hum of delight, Basheerah’s smile widened a bit. She had always enjoyed pleasing people in any number of ways, and that response was reward enough for her. “You are, quite welcome, Silco.” Not expecting the man she’d heard any number of rumors about. No small number of which concerned Shimmer, violence, or power. To want her to stay in his office, and keep him company, Basheerah had taken a half step backward, her head inclining ever so slightly, about to leave.
Before she could speak, however, to wish him well, an invitation was offered. Green eyes resting on him, Basheerah’s inclination turned immediately into a nod of acceptance as she moved to sit. Basheerah’s green skirt swept around her legs, while a black low-cut crop top made it clear she had a nice bit of cleavage as well as a flat stomach. The long, billowy sleeves of her top swept down her arms, hiding the tattoo stretching across them.
“Of course, my pleasure.” From many, a comment that could easily sound cloying or placating. From Basheerah, it sounded sincere for the simple reason that it was.
“How are you, Silco?” As far as Basheerah was concerned, she wasn’t asking about the chembaron, or the power behind the lanes, or the person who controlled Shimmer, or any other such thing. She was simply asking about the man, the person, Silco. He was all of those things, of course, but Basheerah was always interested in the truth that lay behind or between someone's roles.
