parents will act like they know you better than anyone else when all they really know is a projection of their ideals and who you used to be

when my parents say things like “your mental illness isn’t real it’s all in your head” uh a) i know it’s in my head that’s why it’s called MENTAL illness b) i know i have a mental illness and my therapist agrees with me and given that she knows more about me than my parents do, i am going to say that she has the right to validate me c) please leave me and my mental illness alone if you aren’t going to be supportive

A manipulative mother is always the victim. You're guilty because you live your life and make her worry about you. You're guilty for not letting her control your personal life, career, education, the way you raise your children, etc.
