Short story: The Man in the Cowboy Hat
My last short story was a hat tip to truckers. Sadly, we have run into people outside of truck stops pleading for showers and we've run into this in many different states. It is a sad sad state of affairs when people are begging for showers, y'all. It's not a failure on their part. Society has failed them.
A lot of people don't give truckers the credit they deserve, either. Without truckers, you'd have nothing. Everything that we have from toothbrushes to bananas to freaking road construction supplies is distributed by truckers. And what happens to them? They're told to get a "real job," they're ridiculed and sneered at on the regular, and dismissed as less-than-necessary to society. Without them, we'd have nothing. It's so shocking to see how fragile our society is.
If everyone participates in General Strikes, the economy will be brought to it's knees... if every trucker went on strike, we'd all die within 3 days. And i've witnessed so many of them give someone a a shower.. including me.
