It's called Starforge Alpha. Judging by clips, it's like a futuristic, realistic, badass Minecraft. Not joking. Point being, I read their terms of use, because it's past midnight, I'm bored, it's short, what the hell? This is the treat I receive for reading to the end.

We will try our best to never employ any gremlins here. You agree to not hold us resonsible for any damages however if at any time we indeed to choose employ gremlins to help us develop StarForge.

I'm not really one for imagination or simulated type games like Minecraft or The Sims.  When I do get around to playing them they keep me entertained for a couple of minutes and then I start thinking I'd rather be eating a sandwich.

However, id be a fool to ignore the impact these types of games have on the gaming community and when they are successful they are VERY successful. In fact I just read an article where it stated that Minecraft for Xbox dethroned Black Ops as the 2nd most played game on the network. Who would have thunk it?

However, this new game Starforge looks like something I might find amusing. Its a fusion of Minecraft & Halo??

I know it sounds bizarre, but when you see this video I think you'll be impressed.

So besides being able to build all the way straight into space, you can actually have firefights against alien races in this game.

I mean, those look like Zergs to me.

Keep your eyes peel to this, its raw and its alpha...but they are inviting folks to give it a spin. So now is the time to put in your 0.02.

New, FTP Minecraft-type-thing. It's an interesting idea, I hope they can polish it up.

I downloaded the game and gave it a shot; it is very clearly an alpha, pretty tough to play right now. But considering what they've got so far, I'm still impressed. As they say, the video is of a far more complete EXE, but it's still neat.

It's definitely worth the download, even if you only give it a small shot. Be wary of bugs, though; I shut mine down when the camera blacked out. Or maybe I got stuck in a rock. Who knows.

One thing to point out from the creators; when the game starts, the screen will be blank, and it will stay like that for some time. This is normal. Don't freak out. Anyway, they have lots of information on the playable Alpha in the comments of the video, so give it a look.
