“Eve.”

“Add.”

It’s been years since they last managed to maintain the El’s power without the need for sacrifices. The gang broke up and everyone went their own ways. Add was the only one who visited her and continued doing so.

“What is it that you need, Add?” She asked. He often requested something with every visit. Some are easy requests such as more scrap metals while some are ludicrous. Such as the time when he requested for her core. Looking at his serious expression, she knew it was one of those requests.

“When will you finally answer me?” That…was different. She looked at him with a confused expression. Answer?

“Answer?” She said out loud. “What do you want me to answer?” 

“During the war, I asked you if you could be mine.” What? “You told me that it wasn’t the time.”

“Be yours?!” She exclaimed. “Why do you think that I would ever be yours?!”

He narrowed his eyes. “When you have yet to activate the Nemesis code, you told me that you love me.”

“That was back in the past.” She looked away. “I am now the Queen of the Nasods. I have no time for relationships.”

“Cut the crap.” He appeared right in front of her, gripping her chin as he forced her to look at him. “I know very well that you have all the time. What are you afraid of?”

She slapped his hand away. “Afraid?” She held a strong front looking at the other’s eyes filled with black. “I am not afraid.”

“Then why?” He gritted out. “Even now, you won’t look at me. Why are you afraid?! I won’t ever leave you.”

“You are a human, Add!” She snapped, realizing that she let it get to her and looked away in guilt. Add didn’t relent.

“I’m a human? Is that why?” Eve didn’t speak causing him to rage and shout. “Look at me!”

There was a sound, like the tick of the clock, and she looked up. A hand wrapped around her body before she rose and she felt warmth. He was alive, yes but her sensors told her something else. Not a human from her results.

“I am not a human anymore, Eve.” He whispered to her ear. “This is the consequences of my actions. I can no longer die.”

“What of-” She stuttered, a tear rolling down her cheeks. “Old age? From natural means-!” She sobbed. “I cannot tell myself that I will be fine if something happened to you!”

“Then, we’ll be the first.” He raised his hand to her face, wiping away her tears. “Being hurt is the way of life, of the present, that’s why we live as much as we can. I won’t leave you so soon, Eve. Humans are so resilient that they can live to a century.”

“Add…” She should not have tears, and yet beads of liquid keeps flowing down from her eyes. She wrapped herself around him as tight as she could. “Don’t ever do that again, you idiot. No killing yourself when I’m here.”

“Is that a yes?” She gave him a shaky smile.

“That’s why you’re an idiot. It’s a yes, Add.”

How he revealed he wasn’t human: Character Death

She clenched her fists and Eve looked back at him to see him holding a gun to his temple. Her eyes widened reaching out, “No-!” when a gunshot resounded in the throne room. She knelt down, cradling his body as she felt the emotion of grief and sadness permeate her body. Blood and guts strewn on the floor,  her voice locked up. So quick can a life pass by a trigger of a gun.

A different realization

“That was back in the past.” She looked away. “We were young. I didn’t know you, didn’t understand the lengths that you’d go through for your goals.”

“The lengths?” He asked.

“Don’t pretend that you don’t know, Add!!” She snapped. “You let innocents suffer for your quest to meet your mother. Back then, I thought of your goal as noble, not result in something so twisted!”

“Twisted?!” He laughed, as he held his menacing look. “If twisted is hoping for a happy future, then everyone should suffer as I did!”

“Your way is not right. I’ve always looked the other way but if you insist!” Eve stepped hard on the ground, her spears forming behind her. Add chuckled, letting his hands cover his face as he looked down on the ground.

“I misunderstood your benevolence,” He spat. “Kukuku, if I can’t have it, then no one can!”

“Paranoia!” Her entire surroundings collapsed, fell like mere mirrors. The last thing she saw was his grin that was a tad too wide, eyes wide with despair as tears rolled down his cheeks.
