Jack realizing he’s in love with you

- I’d say its one of of those things that builds up over time. He’s just enjoying your company, maybe teasing you in fights and even had helped you sort out how you feel emotionally after having your memories of your past returned.

- If a memory upsets you too much, or someone says something harmful or you feel you’ve failed at something and you get upset to where it’s clear you need a shoulder to cry on? Jack is one of, if not the first one there to offer to listen. After all, he may seem threatening but if you need someone, he’s there to help. At least that’s what he’d be thinking anyways.

- Then he may notice he gets this little twinge of something in his chest when he sees you giggling too much with Yakumo or sitting a little too close to Louis but he wouldn’t act on it because it isn’t anything serious. You’re just spending time with them and being friendly right?

- He may start to struggle to hide it as the feeling grows, especially if he knows he has no reason to feel the way that he does. After all, you two are friends and spending time with other friends happens, right?

- So when someone asks if he’s alright because he can’t hide it anymore and he tries to play off only for someone to say he’s jealous because he likes you? It hits like a ton of bricks.

- Just Oh. Oh. Ohhh. And then he feels so stupid for it because before realizing it, he was just trying to be there after everything between you two in the past and he’s like ‘Well I know what to do next at least.’

- With how blunt he can naturally be at times, he wouldn’t skirt around this too much. I mean it’s the end of the world, the worst has already happened and the worst you can say is no.

- So he politely asks to speak to you privately so no one is watching when he asks this. This is something of the heart and despite his cold exterior, he’s actually very sensitive inside and wouldn’t want to embarrass or force you to say yes around everyone, not to mention his own well hidden nervousness.

- If you said no? His face wouldn’t give it away but he would feel like someone stabbed a knife through his chest and blame himself for being so foolish to ask. It’d be dropped quickly but you would be able to feel that things aren’t quite the same anymore. It’d feel like an uncomfortable distance would’ve formed between you two and being around each other would be awkward all around until the feelings went away and maybe even afterwards too.

- If you said yes? You’d see him give this smile that would melt your heart. He’d feel a weight off of his shoulders and you could swear he seemed warmer in his outward appearance. Jack would also pull you to him and even kiss you, if you were fine with that, just to celebrate that you felt the same way he felt about you. After all, love doesn’t come easy after everything you’ve known is gone.

Jack in a relationship

- He’s a man who values his partners so if you snag him? Ohhh be prepared for him to worry over you, even if you can’t see it outwardly. He sees you need help with something? He’s right there by your side when you ask. You need a smile? He’ll tease and joke with you until you’re feeling better. Out fighting and you get hurt? He’s hellbent on killing whatever hurt you and getting you to safety.

- Now he wouldn’t stop you from bonding with everyone though, because you still have a life outside of him and it just wouldn’t be fair to you or anyone else if he tried to hog your attention.

- However if he’s having one of his hard days where he’s thinking back to Queenslayer or any of the events after it? He’ll often want to spend time with you. Just having you near while talking about what bothers him and getting support does wonders for him. Remember how I said he’s sensitive? This is one of the few times it comes out full force and you get to see that his cold exterior is only a mask for someone who cares and wishes that he wasn’t in such a cold reality.

- Once you’ve been with him for a while, even if he’s trying to keep you from worrying, you just KNOW when he’s having a bad day and when it’s time to pull him somewhere to snuggle up to him and just give him some love and affection.

- Jack is also very much one for his relationships being something that isn’t explicitly announced. Like if someone finds out? All he’d say is “Yes, we’re together.” and leave it at that. But if they’re pestering him about what he sees in you or why he began dating you or anything equally personal? Good luck getting him to talk about it. He’d sooner shut it down and tell them his reasons are his than spill anything.

- Same for PDA. He may do little romantic gestures that aren’t overly extravagant but if you ask him to kiss you in front of everyone? He’s more hesitant. He loves you but he also doesn’t like the idea of people seeing and judging every little bit of affection he gives. So to him, he’d only do what he’s okay with within his discretion.

- When he lets the mask drop outside of things that he’s worried about? You just get this warmth as you talk to him and be with him. His touches are gentle and his love of feeling your hands interlocked with his or your head on his shoulder is something that gives him so much peace. He’s definitely one where his biggest love languages would be touching and quality time because while he doesn’t mind getting you gifts to make you happy, nothing beats out spending time with someone you love.

 Oooh with how tiny you are, he can’t help but to always want to pick you up! Yakumo is a GIANT and in comparison to you, he finds this too adorable and always enjoys having you in his arms! Not to mention how he has to look down at you when you try to be threatening to him, which makes him smile even more!

If he wanted to tease you? All he has to do is put your favorite snack just barely out of reach or hold it above your head and the cost of getting it down would be a kiss on the lips. If you actually needed help getting something down though, he’s there for you immediately, asking if there’s anything else he can do for you.

In fights however, seeing your tiny frame dashing between enemies and leaving carnage or wielding a weapon potentially twice your size to level lost, the pride he would feel would cause him to nearly burst but if something happened to you? Be prepared to see a whirlwind of anger and rage at someone hurting you

He would definitely enjoy being the big spoon, loving how perfectly you seem to fit into his arms as he’s de-stressing from a long day’s mission. If you snag clothing from him for bed? He would be in love with how you look wearing his clothes and he may even ask you to wear them more often

Of course, once you two have settled down and you’re falling asleep, he holds you closer, calling you his personal teddy bear that he can’t sleep without. When you give him a sleepy laugh and ask him to call you that more often, Yakumo is more than willing to do so.

Louis is fairly short in comparison to some people at base, standing at about 5′9. So with you being tinier than him? Even he couldn’t help but to find you adorable. That is, until you sat on his lap or snuggled up to him in bed. Then you would get a blushing mess who you can’t help but loving

Though he too would have fun with you being such a tiny person. Louis would occasionally poke fun at your height in a lighthearted and fun manner. From gentle taps on your nose to forehead kisses when you’re playfully angry, Louis is one who would just make it hard to be truly angry not because you can’t be but because his style of poking fun is so sweet that you just feel good about your size.

He would also be big on giving you even more cute nicknames than usual, all of them referring to how cute you are, partially because of your size, especially since even he would seem to engulf you in his arms when he’s holding you.

Stealing his shirts would garner a response of his face being dusted pink and him stammering out how cute you look in his clothes because this absolute nerd never expected you to steal his clothes. Add in the sight of his clothes being dresses on you and you have a recipe for a lot of embarrassing thoughts from him

Louis, for being the calm and collected one, would lecture you if he sees you coming back injured from fights and when partnered up, he would make it his goal to try to make sure that you don’t take any unnecessary damage because he knows that if you take a nasty hit, while he would be focused on getting you to safety; he would be more reckless and kicking himself over letting you get injured when he could’ve blocked it or at least taken it for you

[Don’t worry about it! Louis was and still is one of my favorites and with me being a new blog it’s a good way for me to give back to the fandom!]

Rainfall

It seemed like today was far more peaceful than usual around the wastelands. The clouds were a dark grey as a rainstorm poured down across the lands. Lights were low in the base, as there was still enough light coming through the clouds to allow people to see. Even the others, who were usually active and at the ready, were lulled by the rain.

You and Louis were no different, deciding to cuddle up on the couch and enjoy the sound of the rain in the main area while others played cards, board games and idly spoke inside. As you two enjoyed the rhythmic patters of the rain, Louis had began to mention to you all the good memories he’s had with storms like this. Late night reads by candlelight, walks in the once beautiful city plaza, even the memory of how its sound soothed him on his worst nights of studying. 

You couldn’t help but smile at how happy and relaxed he was as he regaled you with tale after tale of what he could remember of his past life. Then, almost without thinking, you had snuggled up closer to him and softly sighed “God, I love you.”

When Louis Had heard that, he froze a bit; causing you worry until you saw the smile on his face grow wider as his face turned red. “Ah... I’m sorry.” You quickly spoke

“N-no, no [y/n], you’re fine. It was nice to hear you say that.”

You had began to say something else until he cupped your cheek and captured your lips in a light but loving kiss. When he had pulled away, he realized what he had did as well and apologized for such a hasty decision on his part until you had calmed his nerves about it as well. As you two soothed the worries of the other, you relaxed back into his arms.

Louis when he’s crushing on you

- So Louis strikes me as the type to have a HUUUGE crush. I’m talking like Yakumo would see him crushing on you and would give him so much grief over it that you’d almost feel bad for how red his cheeks are if you knew what they were talking about

- Like he’s this more or less well composed leader and yet he can’t get you out of his head because he loves everything about you and can’t help but just want to hug and hold you and kiss you and yet he can’t even find the words to tell you, the poor baby.

- He loves recommending to you books to read, especially the quirky ones he loves so he has someone to talk about all those weird facts with and if you come back and tell him you enjoyed his recommendations? He’d be over the moon! I’m talking you’d hear him asking your favorite parts and rambling with you about how much he loved a particular part in the book, with his eyes lighting up the entire time he’s in your presence!

- Probably talked Yakumo’s ear off while out on a mission one day about how much he liked you when Yakumo just goes “How about you ask them out Lou? They seem like they like you back.”

- Louis.exe has crashed. Him??? Ask you out??? He just about died when Yakumo suggested that because what if it Yakumo was wrong? What if he screws up the confession?? Like he would be analyzing this harder than when he’s hunting for blood beads and that’s saying something!

- So when Yakumo notices he’s stumbling over his words a bit and can’t seem to find what to say, he’s gotta come in and excuse him from his conversation with you and give him a pep talk because he knows loving someone isn’t something you can break down with statistics or knowledge and no matter what happens, he’ll be supported the entire way through by everyone at home base

- Ultimately Louis would pull himself together, draw your favorite flowers, write a love letter on the back and after getting some chocolates, Yakumo would probably help him out by convincing everyone to dip out of Home base for a bit while he confesses to you so the pressure isn’t as hard on him when he asks

- If you said no to him, you’d see the light leave his eyes right then and there and you could swear you could hear glass shattering. He would compose himself, clear his throat and apologize for making you uncomfortable and from then on out, he would keep any interactions with you strictly business, even though he’s still pining for you.

- If you said yes? He’d be ready to do a flip! His eyes would get so wide before he gives you this million dollar smile and hug you and stutter out about how he was so scared of telling you because he didn’t know how you would react to his affections and he’d be so excited before he tries to calm himself down and just give you this kiss that feels like everything is on fire (Pun intended)!

Don’t go

 It started the same way most fights between you start. You were going on about his mental health and how he was working himself to the bone. He then denied it and tried to play you off, more focused on ignoring your concerns and it never was truly resolved be the end of it. Only pushed off to the side. You were tired of pretending everything was fine. 

“Louis, you know nothing will change if we don’t talk about this. Your work is suffering, Louis. We’re suffering, Louis. You need to actually take some time off for once from this” you began, gesturing to the wasteland teeming with danger “ugh, this hellhole! You’ve literally told me that i need to take care of myself but you won’t even take your own advice!”

He sighed under the mask before walking faster. When you grab his shoulder, he turns quickly, his one visible eye glowing. “I’m fine, [Y/n]! My work has been fine! and unless something has happened that you haven’t told me, I’m certain our relationship is fine!” he gritted through his teeth

Your eyes began to fill with tears as you moved your face closer. “Louis...  I literally have seen you have to restart your reports because of your stress causing you to microsleep! Thought I wouldn’t remember that, huh?”

He pinched the bridge of his nose and in a low voice, he turns away as he says “Go. Just...go. I don’t care if you go back to home base, find our old mistle or what but just fucking go.”

Your voice choked as you looked at him. “You want me to go?” you finally squeaked out

He keeps silent. Taking it as a yes, you pushed past him and go ahead, slaying whatever looked at you wrong in an attempt to calm down while he took his time searching. Until he sees a large horde. Then he sees what looks to be your mask and part of what may be your arm, with his eyes trailing back to the hunched over lost in horror, he feared the worst had happened.

Screaming, he tore through the beings in lightning speed before he could see what he realized was an unrecognizable pile of flesh and bones, with any identifying traits gone. His voice was now crackling in his own throat as he tried to find anything to identify you until he gave up.

He had soon let out a scream of agony before composing himself the best he can, knowing he was meant to find the next mistle. So to see you there, sharpening your blade with your mask resting against the mistle while muttering plans was a source of relief for him. You looked up to see him nearly tackle you until he regained control.

 “I-i’m so sorry for telling you to leave” he sputtered “I was just mad because I didn’t know what to do and I felt like I was failing and I couldn’t deny what you were saying and I just wasn’t thinking. [Y/n] I’m so sorry.” 

Then as he began to sob again, you stood quickly and hugged him, stroking his hair. “I wasn’t mad at you at all... I never was.”

You nodded slowly. “I know Louis. I just went ahead to let you cool off and I’m sorry if I went too far ahead. I was about to go back for you if you didn’t come soon.”

You pull back to see him unhooking his mask to reveal his weak smile. “You’re fine and again I’m sorry. Just, All I have to ask of you is... don’t go. That’s all I ask.”

You could tell something had scared him bad enough to make him apologize like this. All that mattered however, was that Louis was safe and that you two could go home. “I can do that.” You whispered, unhooking your own mask to k

Sunset

You and Yakumo had somehow ended up lost on the path back to the most recent mistle. Night was falling and with the crown of sands growing colder but the minute, it wasn’t going to be long before nothing was visible and you two would be at the mercy of the lost and the elements. “If we hadn’t did that pit stop to try to find that chest in a corner, maybe we would be out of here.” Yakumo spoke, sounding annoyed

You took offense instantly. “Maybe if we didn’t have to take 20 minutes killing the lost rolling those balls of sand, we could’ve been back home by now.” You spat

Yakumo was shocked as he felt his annoyance grow. “What about that trinket huh?”

You scoffed at him and soon, the two of you devolved to arguing about who’s fault it was until you threw up your hands and in an exasperated sigh, you yell at him “I’m going ahead! Maybe if one of us ends the fight here, we’ll actually make progress and get out of this alive!”

“Alright but when you get lost, don’t come crying to me about it!” Yakumo began

As you stuck your tongue out at him, he turned his nose up. Then, when your footsteps were no longer audible; he opened one of his eyes. “[Y/n?]”

He waited but nothing. “[Y/n]? You can come out now!” he nervously laughed as he began walking to find you.

Then he heard your scream and his mind raced to the worst. You were caught by some thing, fighting for your life, about to be pushed off the edge and impaled on god knows what below, be it rebar or more beast that could tear you limb from limb. And all because you two had decided to bicker like kids. So when he found you freshly dispatching a lost, he couldn’t help but to hug you with tears pricking his eyes. 

“God I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean to sound like some baby who wanted to blame everything on you.” He blubbered out as he pulled back to look you in the eyes

“Oh, Yakumo... I didn’t help things when I piled onto it. And me going ahead gave me time to realize that I was being immature.”

“We both were. But I was worried sick when you screamed. Because what if I didn’t make it, huh?” he explained

“Or what if you couldn’t find me?” you added

Soon you two were pretty much going on and on about how you two were glad to find each other before laughing so hard you two cried. Once things had calmed down however, you two looked over only to see the mistle in the distance and the first few stars blink to life in the night sky. “How about we go home, huh? Don’t need you catching a cold.” he teased

Once you shut down his fears though? Louis relaxes into pretty much everything as he starts thrusting his hips and kissing your neck.

- So I have this idea that since he’s a heavy book lover, he would cherish those babies and get so hurt when he sees a book that’s been water damaged or ruined.

- Especially when someone decides to whack someone else upside the head with them. Like you could see his face visibly change to horror and you just hear this squeak at the book abuse he’s just witnessed.

- I feel he would read some average books but when he’s bored? He reads some of the more outlandish things he’s found. A book about the history of games? He’s read it once when he didn’t understand what the hell Murasame was going on about. Curious about the war of Kudzu? He’ll be somewhere reading books about plant warfare. This man will read the most unexpected topics and he will sometimes rattle off those weird ass facts that he learns and you can’t tell me otherwise

- I feel like in his pursuit of knowledge he would be amazing at still life art because identifying wildlife would be crucial but if you ask him to draw in his spare time? he will draw you a stick figure because he’s only good at drawing plants and that’s all you’ll get out of him.

Yakumo Shinonome

- Alright so I feel this teddy bear of a man can’t draw anything imaginative to save his life but give him rulers, pencils and what you need and he will be able to come up with a blueprint and start building what you asked for so long as you give him a base idea

- I would feel because of that he and Louis got along because yeah he has a past with mercenary work but also the fact that he was able to convert the church they found into the home base we know and love today? I’m certain the two of them would bond because the math and the damn work it would take to make sure anything was more or less structurally sound would impress Louis because let’s be real, that sweet nerd probably wouldn’t be that great with building like Yakumo would

Mia Karnstein

- So she strikes me as the type to admire people who have musical talent because she herself doesn’t have any but I could see her being really good at coming up with the most amazing fairytales to keep Nicola interested

- Also she’s the older sister who I could see helping Nicola through levels before the collapse and would learn how to play games just so she could play with him, especially if he had a hard day

- Speaking of games, I feel like for how sweet she seems to be, her best genre if she played games for fun in her own spare time? Fighting games. Specifically things like Street Fighter or Super Smash Bros and she would be the one who would play either Kirby or Solid snake and there is no in between

- Building off of that, I feel like her and Murasame would’ve became the best of friends because one day Murasame would be strugging with a level and Mia would notice and ask to help and BOOM she absolutely crushes it and now they hang out all the time because of it

Good reads

Louis had just returned from a supply run and was preparing to relax in his room when he heard you crying in your room. His heart raced as he began to wonder what could’ve happened.  Did you hurt yourself? Were you hiding in your room after you were given news that you were unsure of? He couldn’t help but worry about what had caused you to cry and your current mental state.

He gave a knock and hastily asked “[Y/n]? Is everything alright?”

You gave a quiet yes and even invited him in, to which he was quick to accept. The look of fear soon changed to relief when he saw that you had a stack of books on your bed with one in your hands. 

“I’m sorry if you heard me crying” you began, setting the book aside while you wipe away tears “I was just reading something that I remembered I had adored in my human life. I forgot it had such a bittersweet ending is all.”

Then it all made sense: The crying he heard today, the laughter, the want to constantly sit in your room, even the eagerness from the day you came back with a box in your hands. It was all because of your find that brought you joy and for him, to see and hear that any book has made you happy, gives him joy. What better way to get back into reading than to re-read a series that you hold near and dear to your heart?

Though once you and him talked a little about the book’s story, He gave you a sheepish grin before the next sentence flew out of his mouth.

“If it’s okay, can I borrow that from you, [Y/n]? It kind of sounds really good...”

Bonus: Louis reading your favorite book series

So when you let him borrow your favorite book set? Oh this baby is so grateful and is super careful with handling your books. Louis would know how much you treasure such a rare find and would feel awful if he returned them in horrible condition. No dog earring of the books, no leaving them open face down, none of that mess.

Expect to see him at his desk literally so deeply entranced that you could see him going through a face journey. Gasps, laughter, anger and confusion are just some of the faces you get out of him, as he reads through the series. Expect his curiosity to go through the roof and when he’s met with “You’ll have to wait and see”? It makes him want to know MORE

His sleep schedule though? Trash and with your wonderful book series? Oh it would be WORSE. We’re talking you could see his eyes gain dark circles for at least the next week of him reading it. Like perfect definition of his mood once he hits a plot point? ‘I don’t need sleep, I need ANSWERS’

Once he finished the book series and returned it to you, however? All the references between you two. ALL. OF. THEM. It would reach the point of you two sounding like you’re speaking a different language around everyone else. Those plot points that once plagued him at night? He found them absolutely amazing. Those seemingly unexplained twists and turns that he doubted? He now adores them
