So step by Step, no idea what the Cast Off spell is for. I mean, it seems to literally cast off a person’s soul for I’m assuming harvesting. But things got fucked by that one specific person being too powerful and just YEETED away into the sky. So don’t know why they wanted it in the first place.
And Vector. Damn I love him. He’s adorable, he’s sweet, he just wants friends and is so anxious I just want to pet him and care for him. (pale feelings are strong within me). He has no idea who/what he is, but still wants to be with other people. Maybe. If they don’t kill him first.
And Arianna, damn girl. I thought I could trust you. Being the first person outside of Book Mom to actually treat Vector like a regular person. Which Apparently also means treating him like a normal target for bounty hunting. So thanks. Thanks for killing his mom in front of him and selling him to jail. Fibonacci Scale of 1 to 21: this gets an easy 13. The art is very gorgeous in the colors and design. It’s prologue in silence is honestly my favorite thing because it shows off the artist’s/author’s talent in showing the world without telling just quite yet. It does a remarkable job in setting up the hero’s journey as well for Vector. I know I said that as a reaction/joke, but if you think about it. Vector has a simple yet protective life in his home, contained but has dreams of having a different life, something/someone comes in and (willingly or not) takes him outside his normalcy to a new world to survive. A pretty good set up to see how our main character, anxious scared baby Vector, struggles and adapts to his new surroundings. The magic is interesting, and because Vector stays inside as our protagonist we are learning of the world as he does. Clever writing indeed.
