It has now been over FOUR years since we began production on The Cate Morland Chronicles. These pictures were from our first day of shooting, in which we took public transit and walked to a too far taco truck on a very hot Sunday for some transmedia photos. Looking back, we realized it was not our best decision, but we got some fun photos and good memories at the very beginning of our AJP journey. #cmchronicles (at Salt Lake City, Utah) https://www.instagram.com/p/CBUZHfjBKXP/?igshid=9t724ui1531h

On one level, Iām a little disappointed that weāre evidently not going to see Frederick (though IIRC I saw no evidence that heād been cast (or the āGeneralā?) so Iām not entirely surprised). On every other level, Iām so pleased that we donāt have to endure another slimeball, John was more than enough! And Cate & Isabella, along with Henry, have managed to give a good enough impression of him. Casting: A+++
Iām delighted that Cate (with Henryās help!) seems to be publishing extra (hi-larious) videos (Eleanor!). I was trying to imagine how they could possibly squeeze everything that happens at Northanger into 3 or 4 episodes; Cateās only supposed to be there for 2 weeks but we know(?) sheās going to be kicked out early, and thatās a very short space of time to pack so much in. Will she make it past Black Friday? WIll Cate, Henry, and Eleanor all watch Gilmore Girls together? Will we see Henryās messy bedroom? These are the questions.
Iām still speculating as to what form Henry & Cateās confrontation is going to take precisely. There hasnāt been much evidence up until now that she is conflating Henry with Luke, which was IIRC most peopleās >ick factor< concern when the series began. The writers also seem to be going a more canonical route than, at least, I wouldāve thought. Henryās telling her āghost storiesā, Cateās comparing Northanger with Udolpho, sheās looking in cabinets, hearing creepy sounds. Ā So is the confrontation going to remain fairly canonical? I could imagine, in a modern real-world context, that being a lot more disturbing and upsetting than in the book. Is our Cate actually naive enough to believe that though? She was interested in what Isabella said and her naivetyās becoming more obvious, but to really believe Perez Hilton-level gossip? To actually say it to Henry? Or maybe thereāll be some other, unforeseen, element that hasnāt been introduced yet?
That being said, since this tends to be changed in adaptations, will Henry forgive her immediately, before JamesāsĀ āletterā, before sheās booted out? Presuming she is booted out... and what form thatāll take. The Generalās thoughts and Johnās whispers seem to be fairly canonical too, so...
