The clover is baaaaack! I’m just so conflicted about it. On one hand, it’s giving my front lawn a fuller look because the grass is pretty much kaput. But it’s taking over everything, and I just don’t think I have it in me to spend so much time pulling it from every crevice, but it might crowd out the legitimate plants I want to grow in the lawn (like poppies and other flowers). Ah well, I’m ultimately lazy, so it’ll be a fight for the strongest...short-term evolution, if you will.
The paperwhites are really popping up though, which is amazing because some of the bulbs straight up popped back out of the dirt because I planted them too shallowly.
See the clover? But it’s looking very meadow-y. Also, the purple clover has been growing too, so it gives the lawn a pop of color.
And these little white flowers popped up out of nowhere. I have absolutely no idea if they are weeds or just random flower seeds I scattered a long time ago and they’re just growing now because I’m actually watering the lawn decently now.
The freesias are also appearing too, so this little part of the front looks like someone’s head sprouting hair.
Still waiting for any sign of the hyacinths, ixias, and poppies. Still also waiting for the wild ginger, but they’re not supposed to appear until spring anyways. I’ve been slacking on putting in the poppy seeds, because I just bought a new bag of dirt to sprinkle over the seeds and it’s heavy and (as stated before), I’m lazy.
I also bought a manual aerator, which gives me a great workout, and I’m hoping it will slightly improve the quality of the soil.
Moving on to the side yard, here’s a picture of my chicken wire garden.
You’ll see that I have a couple extra plants. On a trip to Home Depot to pick up some home supplies, I couldn’t resist picking up a Bell Pepper plant and a Japanese Eggplant plant, just to try it out. The Japanese Eggplant especially had such pretty flowers. I planted the Bell Pepper with my other pepper plants (upper right), and the Japanese Eggplant got it’s own little bag. So far, they haven’t died yet, so I count that as a win.
Speaking of my pepper plants, they’re not huge, but they’re actually flowering and little peppers are appearing, so that is way better than the last time I planted them. Every little improvement counts!

The Japanese Eggplant flower is pretty too.
I guess I like purple... It used to be my favorite color growing up, though it shifted to blue (specifically turquoise or peacock blue) in adulthood. I guess I still have a special place in my heart for a good purple.
The zucchini, pumpkin, and watermelon plants are pretty much kaput. Which, as I predicted, grew really well initially, didn’t produce anything, and is on its last legs. This seems to be my gardening MO... I have no idea why this is (maybe the dang clover that took over?), but, I’ll try again next time...
Everything else is still holding steady, so *cross fingers*
