I was tagged by frecklestherobot (I can sadly not do the fancy @ thing because iPads suck. Anywho. 1. Firefly--I basically picked this show as my favorite when I was thirteen and I've stuck to it pretty much since then. Artistically almost flawless, with beautiful cinematography, fantastic writing and dialogue, incredible characters and acting, easily Joss Whedon's magnum opus in my opinion. 2. Young Justice--My personal favorite superhero show, a wonderful, tightly written, well-paced show that utilizes the DC comics mythos, both the well-known and obscure portions of it, to fantastic effect. 3. Puella Magi Madoka Magica--Anime time! One of the most brilliantly told stories I've ever seen, period. Lovable characters, a beautiful, haunting, tragic (and yet somehow optimistic) story, and an utterly horrifying deconstruction of one of anime's most stagnant genres. 4. Digimon: Tamers (aka Digimon Season Three)--another anime, and almost all of what I said about Madoka applies to it, albeit on a smaller scale. Elevated the "Digimon" franchise past its original market-driven premise into something that could stand on its own two feet, and is ultimately better than anything else in the franchise, before or since. 5. Community (90% of season 4 excluded)--My favorite comedy of all time, one of the most human shows I've ever seen (pun only slightly intended). Essentially a comedy almost tailor made for me personally, filled with witty dialogue, sharp observational satire on media and genre conventions, and also quiet, heartfelt moments with, again, some of the most flawed, lovable, and overall HUMAN characters I've ever had the pleasure of following. 6. Doctor Who--Easily the most flawed of all the shows on this list. In fact, I'd be hard-pressed to find a show that I have more of a split opinion on. When it's good, it's some of the most wonderful, inspiring, and hopeful television I've ever seen, not to mention with superb storytelling and characters. When it's bad, it can be utterly infuriating. But I choose to dwell on the highs, not the lows. For my own sanity, at least. 7. Adventure Time--Adventure Time is exactly the type of show I would want to make if I had the talent for it. Such off the wall, completely silly kid-oriented comedy, mixed with some of the most horrifically dark and tragic undertones, and mixed WELL. Nothing is off-limits, because there are no limits. 8. Avatar: The Last Airbender--I can't really say anything here that hasn't been said more eloquently by smarter people than me. Just an amazing show in nearly every respect. 9. Gravity Falls--Also a show that I wish I were talented enough to make. Like Adventure Time, mixes comedy and darkness fantastically. The difference being A) it's far more coherent than AT, and the comedy much less manic and zany, and B) the darkness is less character drama and more based on mystery and horror. But still a hilarious and all-around wonderful show. 10. Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles--Perhaps not one of the better shows on this list objectively, but screw it. I love the Terminator mythos unashamedly, and this show builds on that mythos brilliantly. I had to make a lot of really painful cuts to that (I'm really bad at listing my favorite shows/movies/etc. because I like waaaay too much stuff), but I think I got it there. Again, I can't tag people properly cuz iPads suuuuuuuck, but I'll actually tag them in the tags and whatnot, so it's okay. But for the record, it's gonna be scriptscribbles, modernmayhem, phoenixwrites, cloudedcontemplations, and rdawdy.
