Your MSP Was Acquired. Here’s What That Really Means
Your managed IT provider was acquired.
That often shows up as a short email. A new logo. And a sentence that says, "Nothing is changing."
Sometimes that is true. Sometimes it is only true for a while.
MSP acquisitions are common. Larger providers buy smaller firms to expand services, enter new markets, or add customers. None of that is automatically a problem. But it does introduce change, whether you notice it immediately or not.
If your MSP was acquired, there are a few things worth checking early.
Start with your contract. Review change of ownership language. Confirm cancellation terms. Make sure your service level agreement still applies as written.
Next, ask practical questions. Who supports your environment now? Have escalation paths changed? Are tools or portals different?
Protect your data. Make sure your backups are independent. Your data should never be controlled by a single provider.
An acquisition does not have to disrupt your business. Ignoring it is what creates risk.
