“Let’s get packing,” Christoph said, breaking into his thoughts. “We can be back in Placer by this evening. Before you know it, Dulcie will be back too and you can calm your anxious heart.”
“I don’t have an anxious heart.”
“You do realize that you’re not fooling anybody?”
“Yes. Shut up.”
I will hit 25K tomorrow on my novel. I've been behind all month, but I'm steadily catching up. All I have to do tomorrow is help a friend move a wedding cake. And I'm going to start sewing my dress, and writing. I will write 4K tomorrow. I've done twice that in one day before, and there's so much going on in the novel that I'm not worried about it.
Heck, Remy just admitted he's in love with Dulcie, there's an assassination attempt I have to pull off, another attack on the country, AND Jacky having to deal with that one dude who wants to kill him. SO MUCH TO WRITE. :D I'm so excited about this novel.

I think my favorite thing about Beasts of Strife (the title of my NaNo) is how 100% done everyone is with Remy and Dulcie being awkwardly polite to each other and how three characters so far have out-and-out stated that they need to just get over it and make out already (well, not the make out part, haha).
I love finding new ways to torture my characters.
Poor Jacky. He just found out his best friend died.Â
In a few days he's going to find out a guy is trying to kill him.
And after that he's going to get drafted. I originally was going to have him enlist but this works better with his characterization.

Oh well, big stuff is happening in the next couple of chapters in my steampunk versions of Boston and Chicago. lots of opportunities. Muahahaha.
