Ramblings about the Clock Maker
"Sweet one" is his most common denotion of affection, be the receiver human or monster. He uses it for people who are on his good side and for those he gives approval of.
Pierrot, in an example, is always referred to by him as "sweet one", as would be Luere as my MC of TFC.
On the otherhand, those who he doesn't like, and doesn't want anything to do with? Let's take @destinysquared's Painter as an example of what it would be like to be Clock Maker's bad side.
(I'm sorry for tagging you but Painter felt like such a good example to explore CM's mind a little bit for someone and how he interacts with others)
"Oh, the Painter…Sweet one, some advice from someone who's seen many of his sort, monster and human alike…..simply ignore him. He's an impetulant brat at best, a manipulative, spoiled man-child at worst, and unfortunately there's not much of a gap between the two. Thankfully I've never had the misfortune of ever meeting him, but I know that had he ever tried to set his sights on someone of my standing, I would find myself running for the hills under his gaze. Unpleasant and ill-mannered children are the worst to deal with.
He makes me want to cheat, sweet one. Manipulate the rules he plays by against him.
Just….do be careful around him, sweet one, should you have the misfortune of meeting him. For all of his problems, his biggest weapon is his fanatical following who believe themselves cared for by him. All curated by his most lethal weapon…..Charisma, beauty, and a silver tongue."
"The Amusement Park of Terrors….speaking it's name alone sets sour and bitter notes upon my lips. He's copied the Circus and wants every aspect of it to be his, the little brat. He lies, steals, and makes things so perfectly framed around him to make it seem he is the victim.
Admittedly I do fear for Jester and his found family because of it, sweet one. And I fear for him because Painter….he never asks questions. Beauty is but skin deep is the saying, sweet one, a saying that applies most very well. Painter only looks at the story he wants to hear and create, to make himself the victim and hero.
Nevermind trying to tell him what he's done wrong, he's a child who learns nothing of the lessons of his mistakes, doomed to repeat them.
And that, combined with his assets, makes him the most troublesome enemy to have indeed."
Clock Maker tears people down with observations and truths he's foreseen with his future Sight. He plants the seeds of doubt and allows people to think for themselves while also educating them of the dangers someone represents.
More then anything, Clock Maker looks at things from a father's perspective; he sees others younger then him, particularly if they're fellow monsters or even particular humans, with a paternal affection. Painter is an example of his version of a lost cause; Clock Maker sees the lessons that Painter has either actively ignored or forgotten, and there is nothing more infuritating then a child who refuses to grow up in the ways that matter.
Anyway I'm done with my rambling lol. Painter once again belongs to @/destinysquared. Lots of love to you and the work you do for Neko <3
