Topical Day | World Migratory Bird Day

Every year, billions of birds cross continents, connecting ecosystems that sustain life across regions.

As they move, they do more than migrate. They control pests, disperse seeds, and support wetlands that millions depend on.

But these journeys are changing. And understanding how they are changing depends on something simple: observation.

This year’s theme, “Every Bird Counts – Your Observations Matter,” highlights how individual sightings help build the data needed to protect migratory birds and their habitats.

In Guwahati, climate change isn’t a distant story. It’s already here.

From classrooms to climate leadership 🌱

In Sikkim, 327 students across 16 schools are learning about water, climate, and the environment through the Pani Pahar curriculum. They are applying this knowledge in hands-on activities, community projects, and sustainability practices, understanding how their actions can protect ecosystems and conserve resources.

The Mobius Young Climate Leaders Project shows how youth, education, and local engagement can create measurable impact, from raising awareness to driving real environmental action.

In the lush landscapes of Tripura, 16 schools and nearly 1,300 students are discovering how water, climate, and sustainability connect to everyday life through the Mobius Young Climate Leaders Program. Adopting the Pani Pahar curriculum, hands-on learning, and community engagement, young minds are stepping up as climate leaders under the initiative.

The program is bringing together traditional knowledge systems, innovation, and on-ground solutions to the future of climate action. From classroom activities to field visits with forest departments, biodiversity centres, and local communities, students are linking knowledge with real-world solutions. Women-led self-help groups are also showing how eco-friendly entrepreneurship can support livelihoods while protecting the environment.
