Of course the families of the 2,996 people who lost their lives in New York 10 years ago are on everybody's mind. While they're at it, I wonder if they'd spare a few extra moments of silence for the 20,364 dead and missing from the Great Northern Japan Earthquake & Tsunami. It happened six months ago today. As for me, I have a far more personal, far more bittersweet matter to focus on. The law of averages (or as some people call it, Jesus F. Christ) has dictated that September 11th is also not only my mother-in-law's birthday, but also the anniversary of my own mother's passing.
