29 May through 1 June 2018
Monday was a bank holiday, so it was a short week. Tuesday’s lightening, thunder and torrential rain was refreshing. I’m still getting to know the tropical corridor and learning which plants have pest problems. It’s a lush place to work.
I split my office day, half day Wednesday and half day Thursday. Our taxonomist was in this week too, which is always exciting. I noticed two plants labelled with the same name, so I quickly worked that out with Susyn. This is the correctly labelled Euonymus nanus.
Thursday morning I pulled together this week’s plant ident, theme is leaf shape:
Acanthaceae Acanthus sennii
Aquifoliaceae Ilex cornuta
Araliaceae Pseudopanax ferox
Asparagaceae Dasylirion serratifolium
Celastraceae Euonymus nanus
Celastraceae Euonymus alatus 'Compactus'
Lamiaceae Salvia argentea
Marsileaceae Marsilea quadrifolia
Plantaginaceae Parahebe perfoliata
Pteridaceae Adiantum pedatum
Rutaceae Citrus trifoliata
Friday the Florilegium Society needed more material collected, which I always enjoy. I also finally planted an Amorphophallus bulbifer, the “Voodoo Lily” in World Wood Asia.
