after reflecting on the worm ending, i think it's... idk it's fitting that wildbow lets taylor go. like i havent read ward but i assume the remaining undersiders and everyone else go through 3499328092 more torments. but taylor's done her piece and now she just gets to be happy. she just gets to exist and explore what it means to be a normal person in a way she couldnt when she had powers and before that. she gave everything she had and now she's free.
and there's a lot to say abt the differences between what life on aleph would be like as opposed to bet! barely any powered people. relatively normal society. taylor doesnt have her powers. but rn im thinking abt how danny was sent to aleph with taylor almost as an afterthought. an accessory. he's mentioned and we barely see him and taylor literally thought he was dead up until he got shipped off to aleph w her. and that's another big difference that i find really interesting. at the start of worm, danny is pretty... useless. he can't do much to help taylor and as taylor gets more involved in cape life he can't do much to stop her either. wildbow does highlight this! we see taylor and danny processing taylor's identity being revealed & her crimes being emphasized. but there's never enough downtime to really explore that. there's not enough time to discuss it all because things are always happening. and when there was time it's a timeskip so we get nothing from that.
but now on aleph they're entering a world where taylor still being eighteen means something. she's practically still a kid. she's expected to rely on her parents for a lot by society, and being on her own here isnt something she can just solve with her powers. up until now her powers granted her her independence! being a cape is what helped her feel like her own person. and not only that but she has a disability now. and danny is also just the only person who knows her and who she is and shares her experiences so like. i have to think that moving to aleph together would bring them together again and lead to a LOT of complicated feelings! taylor is transitioning to being a teenager again and being someones daughter again. danny is a father again but also a father to a teenager who saved the world and was practically a god for a moment and is intensely traumatized and is now separated from all her friends forever and has no powers and is also getting used to a new disability. so like yeah that's probably wild.
i dont rlly have a point with all this i just think it must be wild. the silences are heavy and they probably talk around a bunch of shit and theyre both traumatized and everything is so complicated and impossible. wow.
