Clearing Negativity
I believe that negativity is sneaky. It squeezes itself somehow into your environment, then your mind, and before you know it, you've lost your positivity buzz and have no idea why.
For me it usually means that I've unconsciously dialed back my reflective time. Fewer small meditation blocks in the day, usually because life just happens. And it's not just life, it's me. I'm the first one to admit that after a few days of feeling "totally in the zone" I figure that I can manage and keep it up more on my own, instead of with some help.
So here's what I turn to when I realize it's happened again:
I'm very big on guided meditation tracks; there are literally a TON of them out there. My preference is to use several throughout the day when I can fit in 5 - 30 minutes of quiet time. I'm currently loving the 6 Phase Meditation (totally free online, you can listen here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EaRu14P9H84) for first thing in the morning. It takes just over 20 minutes.
I perform a quick energy clearing routine (less than 5 minutes) each day, usually in the morning, that focuses on deep breathing and getting centred.
Then sometime in the afternoon I try something I've got on my phone, and this could be anything from a happiness guided meditation to something for stress relief, etc.
And then as I'm lying in bed before falling asleep I like to listen to a track with some ocean sounds, since I grew up a block away from the waves and currently don't live near the coast. I find this really relaxing, and I often fall asleep before the end of the recording.
I also try to watch a movie or tv show that makes me laugh; I know I'm happier when I'm smiling.
I know that if I stick to this general routine long enough, feeling positive will become a habit - and that is my goal!
