Orange, crispy tofu, tender fennel, and fragrant basil come together in this colorful vegan dish to make it taste great. It's the right amount of sweet, savory, and fresh, so it's a great choice for a clean eating meal.
Ingredients: 1 block firm tofu, drained and pressed. 2 oranges, juiced and zested. 2 tablespoons soy sauce or tamari. 1 tablespoon maple syrup or agave nectar. 1 tablespoon cornstarch. 1 tablespoon olive oil. 1 fennel bulb, thinly sliced. 1 small bunch fresh basil leaves. Salt and pepper to taste.
Instructions: Get the oven ready by heating it up to 400F 200C. Put the cubes of pressed tofu in a bowl. Mix orange juice, orange zest, soy sauce, maple syrup, and cornstarch in a different bowl. Toss the tofu cubes around in the sauce to cover them all. Put the tofu cubes on a baking sheet that has been lined with parchment paper. Oil the cubes with olive oil and season them with salt and pepper. Tofu should be baked in a hot oven for 25 to 30 minutes, or until it is golden and crispy. To make the fennel, heat a skillet over medium heat and add the slices of fennel. For about 5 to 7 minutes, or until soft. When the tofu is done, put it on top of cooked fennel slices and top with fresh basil leaves. Have fun with your orange tofu with fennel and basil that is good for you.
