lookin' for a place on solid ground
“Yeah.” Robert let out a brief sigh. “And yeah, sure. Let’s do it.” Well. That had been easy. Too easy. “Hm? Are you saying yes just like that?” He couldn’t or shouldn’t complain, and yet… it was confusing, if nothing else. “Are you that desperate for Saturday plans? I didn’t even have to bribe you with my brother in law’s heavenly cooking.” Fun to say, when there was no one more desperate between the two than him, or he wouldn’t have gone to him.

to make them realize, this is my life
Had he been, would his parents have buried Michizô with his own name, or with the one they had given it at birth instead? He was pretty sure about what the answer would be, and he didn’t like it.

hi clau ✧ “This sounds a lot like a marriage proposal.” “Well, I would sure hope so.” + um, kunizai maybe? 👀
That was by no means how Kunikida had envisioned himself doing it years ago, back when mostly planning but also low-key fantasizing about his ideal future; barely any of the specific details were exactly on his notebook, the same way Dazai fulfilled little to none of the requirements he had noted down his ideal partner should have.
But, of course, he had also realized time ago none of those were actually realistic and he was better off following his heart more in that realm, or else he wouldn’t be clearing his throat right then to start out.
“I’d like to tell you something.” Well, what an awful start-- Dazai’s following joke was a deserved one, in fact.
“What, you got us take-out so you can break up with me?” It was crystal clear he didn’t believe that, and just in case his tone wasn’t proof enough, he was already on the way to lift up a hand dramatically to his own chest.
“You’re impossible.” Kunikida instantly replied, more fond than annoyed, as he moved to take that hand between his just as fast. Right now, the slight trembling was more due to nervousness than having a bad ‘you blew up your own hands in a reckless endeavor and might still deal with the consequences forever’ day. “I’ve been thinking about how, back to our first case, I said I couldn’t have asked for a better partner. This applies to life too, and not just work.” Yes, Dazai hadn’t stopped testing his patience in any of those two roles, but that was beyond the point right then. “And I… I’d like for that to be a constant, as in-- for us to keep being together. Forever.”
“My, my, Kunikida-kun.” At that point of their relationship, they weren’t strangers to being on a first name basis, but Dazai would still always resort to calling him that when somewhat (or downright) teasing; some things never changed. “This sounds a lot like a marriage proposal.”
“Well… I’d sure hope so.” He continued, holding on tighter to his partner’s hands. A ring would have to wait, because even if Kunikida had obviously gotten one in advance, doing so much as reaching into his pocket felt like breaking the magic of the moment right then. “Dazai Osamu, would you marry me?”
The first answer he got was one of those characteristic smirks that could say a lot if one knew to decipher them. He, obviously, did know.
“I thought you’d never ask.”

all emotional and spellbound
For Akutagawa, everything started (or rather, started again) when the girl arrived at the Agency’s office. - For Atsushi, everything started (or rather, started again) when the phone rang and he was the closest one to pick it up swiftly.
for @sskkbigbang's 2026 part 1 edition

workin' my way down an old road
“Why my place, though?” He still asked, because damn if he wasn’t curious anyway, more so with such a specific request. “She’d like to make something for her parents’ anniversary, and it’s gonna be a surprise. So your place’s the only option we have for full secrecy, and…” Flambae made a pause looking at him up and down. “You could use more meat on your bones, y’know.”

rain
sskk + rain
“Tsk, I cannot believe you forgot to bring an umbrella.” Atsushi heard Akutagawa say as he approached him.
“Well, those are brave words for someone who--” He started out, because he clearly remembered his partner going out earlier in the morning with no umbrella either… and stopping when taking a proper look at him. Opposite to Atsushi, who didn’t even have a hood to put on either, Akutagawa was making use of Rashômon to make the umbrella for him. “Nevermind.”
“I knew you were going to do that.” If he meant trying to argue until seeing he had no way to win or forgetting about how it was going to rain, Akutagawa didn’t elaborate further on it. “Anyway, get over here.”
“Thanks.” Atsushi replied, closing the distance between them and taking cover beside his boyfriend.
“You didn’t think I was going to let you get soaked, right?”
No, he didn’t, and both knew that.

another for the drabble challenge: vanilla
umetsuba + vanilla
“Is that vanilla I smell?” Umemiya asked, causing Tsubaki to grin from ear to ear before nodding in affirmation. He had noticed! Of course, that was the idea, but one could still be happy about a plan going well, right?
“Damn right.” Tsubaki swiftly replied, nodding again. “My new lipstick. It tastes like vanilla too, it’s not just the fragrance.”
“Oh, yeah?” As he replied, Umemiya took a seat right in front of him, resting his face in his own hands and leaning in, perfectly in tune with Tsubaki’s own intentions as well. “I wanna try it, then. Not like I don’t believe you or anything, Tsubaki-chan, though. But, y’know.”
“I do.” Was the only thing Tsubaki said before both proceeded with the taste test via a kiss on the lips.
