Maybe that was why he was here. To keep watch over the God who had caused so much chaos or maybe it was his own mockery of everything Thanos was. All Grant wanted was a weapon to end a pesky species - one that could be considered a thorn in his side-, but that could wait. His world was long gone, so why not let them keep their lives for a while longer.
      âIf it was up to me, I would be  on a ship far away        from here; maybe the other side of the Galaxy by now.â
However, he couldnât have that. Not while he was still bound by oaths and most certainly not when Thanos was determined to get the last few stones. With those, he could wipe the oneâs who had tormented him for so long out - all Grant  needed to do was persuade the Titan into doing his dirty work.

Grant gestured towards the battle for several moments, In his mind, it was amazing how an entire world would try to stop Thanos. To stop their end; heâd seen fights larger than this before⌠full intergalactic worlds, but this world wanted to survive⌠he respected that.
         âOut there.â
       âNo. Youâre not. Shame, really. Did you ever wonder why        heâs chosen you to watch over me? His children are more        than capable of doing it themselves.â
His words could be seen as some form of manipulation. Loki had tricked men for less important reasons, but this time, he was also curious. His jailer must have had a very good reason for entering into a willing alliance with Thanos. Ronan the Accuser had been one of Thanosâ former allies, but his impatience had cost him his life and the end of his vendetta against the Xandarians. Lokiâs alliance, brought about by mental torture and trickery, had ended the moment he broke free from the mental bond formed between them.
But what made Grant stay here?
       âBe cautious of his words. Whatever promises heâs given you⌠       do not rely on them. He has given his word twice and has broken        it twice.â
The muffled sounds of the explosions below them were becoming more frequent, and he dared a look. The sudden beam of white light was almost blinding, forcing him to look away. What he saw next made him laugh: only his brother could think of such a dramatic and powerful entrance. Now armed with a new weapon, Thor easily cut through Thanosâ soldiers. It was obvious who his real target was, but even with the strength behind each axe swing, he feared for his brotherâs life.
       âWhat is it you truly desire, Grant? Perhaps we can help each other.â
From the way Grant spoke, he had a feeling that the man wasnât really there because he believed in Thanosâ doctrine. That Thanos only had something that Grant wanted, and it was what he was using to keep Grant in his service. Whatever that was, Loki could find ways to give it to himâŚfor a price.
