Classroom Champions Letter to Parents
Dear Parents/Guardians,Â
I am excited to share with you that our class has been selected as one of more than 100 classes across the US and Canada to participate in a program called Classroom Champions this school year. Classroom Champions is a non-profit organization that uses Olympians and Paralympians to inspire students to recognize their potential, set goals, and dream big. As a part of this program, our class will be paired with an athlete training for international competitions, including World Championships in their sport, in preparation for the Rio 2016 or Pyeong Chang 2018 Olympic or Paralympic Games. All of the athlete mentors volunteering their time with Classroom Champions have demonstrated themselves to be strong role models for students.Â
During the school year, we will exchange letters and video messages and engage in live video chats with our athlete! I am excited about the opportunity participating in this program will provide for your children, as I think they will love learning from our athlete as he/she travels around the world and shares his/her goals, challenges, and accomplishments with our class.Â
Classroom Champions has requested that I submit photos, videos, and student work from our class participation in Classroom Champions activities. Classroom Champions may share these online, in their printed materials, and in other media. Classroom Champions may also share them with the sponsors who provide the technology and funding that makes our participation in this program possible. In addition, Classroom Champions will ask students to complete surveys to learn about their experiences in school and with the program, and will request certain student information in order to analyze the program. Before these materials can be shared with Classroom Champions, our school requires parental permission from participating students. I am therefore asking for your permission to allow your child’s photo and work to be shared with Classroom Champions. Please sign and return the attached permission slip as soon as possible and feel free to contact me with any questions you have.Â
Sincerely,
Jerome Clemons  Â
