Crocodile Rock (Elton John) || Clabby Flashback (Freshmen Year)
Clara's fingers flitted through the warm summer air, tracing the ends of her pale hair and the smoothness of her newly developed legs. They ran across her stomach, which peeked out from under some crocheted mess, and along the salty air that kissed each cheek lovingly. Summertime in Deering was a beautiful sight, perhaps rivaled only by the coming and going of those luck souls who came home to visit for Christmas. And here, balancing on the front of Abby's boat, Clara pretended that they were leaving Deering for good, like those people, with the knowledge that they could go anywhere and be any number of things. The idea was almost romantic, if it hadn't been so frightening too.Â
"I can't even see shore anymore," young, freshman Clara called, and her voice was just a little higher than it was meant to be, her body just a little too much like a baby bird's. "I bet you couldn't swim back even if you tried."
Her daring blue eyes flew to Abby, who was steering the boat with the skill of someone who had grown up with this kind of technology. With a grin, Clara bounded to her, weaving over ropes and towels and sunglasses that littered the white interior.Â
"We could go to Canada," she swooned, and her eyes grew wider, if that was possible. "Or we could go all week and make it to Florida."
Clabby
who cooks normally?: What is this cooking you speak of? That’s what a personal chef is for, especially because the pair can afford one…or three.
how often do they fight?: Not very often, because they often share similar views on things. When they do fight, they never leave angry, because they know that it’s not worth losing their best friend and lover over.
what do they do when they’re away from each other?: Clara manipulates things to go her way, especially when she thinks that Abby could use a little undercover backup. Abby tries to make her independence and strength known, even though all she really wants to do is go home to Clara.
nicknames for each other?: Abs and Clar-Bear
who is more likely to pay for dinner?: They split it 50/50 because they’re both to stubborn to let the other one pay.
who steals the covers at night?: Abby, which Clara finds both insufferable and adorable. She almost always ends up getting a blanket from the guest bedroom.
what would they get each other for gifts?: Expensive jewelry, fine wine, strippers, and kinky sex toys.
who remembers things?: Abby. Stoic and lovely, Abby holds the memory of an elephant in the form of an angel. Nothing is ever forgotten with her.
who cusses more?: Also Clara. Maybe it’s because Abby actually made it all the way through the cotillion and debutante bullshit, but Clara has always viewed Abby as the more graceful of the two.
what would they do if the other one was hurt?: Find who caused the pain and inflict something even worse upon them in revenge. And then they’d hold each other.
who kissed who first?: Clara kissed Abby freshman year during a family dinner. Levi and Brielle were off hanging out, and that left the two girls to eavesdrop on the adults. They were upstairs drinking wine coolers and Clara took Abby firmly in her grasp and kissed her just to see if she liked the way it felt. She did.
who made the first move?: Clara. See above.
who started the relationship?: Probably Clara. In her mind, there was only one way to get back to the way they were before boarding school, and that was romantically. It’s hard for her to be close to someone without it being all-consuming.
