Valentine’s Day
Mink presented Isao with a flat box. Inside, resting on a small, folded bit of silk (clearly scavenged from a bit of old kimono, is a necklace, held together with thin cord. The beads on it were made of ebony, bone, rosewood and turquoise. In the center, between two silver beads, two striped feathers dangled off the cord. He didn’t offer any explanation of the pattern or the meanings of the materials, but his hands were steady and did not shake.
Isao had never expected to get something on a day like this, and as his lover held out a box towards him he stared at it for the longest moment, pale gaze filled with confusion when he glanced up to seek Mink's eyes. But he slowly took the box and hooked the tip of his fingers under the edge of the lid, opening it to reveal the content inside.
Confusion changed into surprise which soon changed to one that held so much happiness it almost spilled over the edges. He beamed as he carefully lifted the necklace from the box to examine it closer, holding his breath and trapping his lower lip between his teeth to calm down the wide smile that spread across his face.
"It's.. It's beautiful.. Thank you." Isao managed to speak and closed the distance between them, standing up on his tiptoes to press several kisses to any part of Mink's face he could reach.
"Did you make this?"
