Fanfic: Rainbow Foil

They got hurt for being different. For not being the boy they were supposed to be. Did you know that? You didn't know that. You didn't even listen long enough to not make them walk with a broken arm.
They just wanted to impress their friend. No, not to impress. To spite. Love and anger all mixed together beneath the pain and terror you inflicted. You're going to say there's nothing sympathetic about such an impure motive. You've always been a hypocrite.
Friendship, love, justice... none of it was enough to stop you. You battled against a true hero, a warmer, more hopeful version of yourself. She struck you down more than once. She should have been your destiny. But cheating destiny is what you do best.
Her friend was nothing like you at all. But that's worse, isn't it? Do you know who she would have reminded you of, if you'd let yourself see her as a person? Deep, deep down, I think you do know.
And...
I really did hate them, Chara. I thought you were a hero for saving me that day. I thought that they were beyond saving, that you only did what was necessary. But you wanted that fight more than they wanted it. You had something to prove to your family too.
I can feel them all inside of me, a burning, sharp-edged rainbow of hopes and dreams you shattered. You built them into a bonfire hot enough to incinerate your lies. I know who they are now. You know who they are now. More than that, after all these years, I finally know who you really are. I see your true face like a reflection in their shards, like a flickering vision in their flames.
And I'm not going to let you win.
