Cidon and Variel Story
Her best friend, not something that Variel woul ever admit, was severely ill. More so over the past months. Worry filled her as well, not that the young girl would have admitted this to anyone. So, the most rational thing to do for Variel was to come and visit him once inawhile, taking preference in a small and light animal, so as she could rest on him and nuzzle close without fear of hurting the poor boy.
Variel had been more than aware Cidon would realize it was her, having played tricks on him using these same animals when they used to play, as well as Seren wouldn't have allowed any random animal visiting Cidon, only those people she trusted completely. Leaning closer against the door, Variel's purple eye squinted as she continued to observe what had been happening in there.
She could hear the faint and hoarse voice of Cidon, talking to Seren, she was barely able to register the words the pair spoke, as Seren whispered, sitting beside Cidon, stroking his hair gently. Variel had been there for quite some time, three hours and fifty-seven minutes if she kept track correctly. She had the process, cringing and having to stop herself towards stopping it when Cidon let out any noises or reactions towards pain. Variel had seen when Seren gently brushed Cidon's face with a damp cloth, or when she attempted to feed him soup.
Seren probably would have let Variel see Cidon, had she asked, but Variel was too afraid to ask on the off chance that the female oneroi had been cruel and denied her. So if she snuck around, then Seren wouldn't be upset towards the fact of her disobeying her orders. She fiddled with the long chain in her pocket, it had two little charms on it that Variel would give her life for to make them assist Cidon, nearly having done so, not that she would tell Cidon any of that. It wasn't like she fancied him or anything.
Snapping back to reality, she noticed Seren leaning over with her lips caressing Cidon's forehead, his eyes were shut. Her heart raced a bit, thinking he may not even be alive for her to give him the small gift. That's when she noticed his mouth moving, a gasp escaped her lips, something Variel prayed that they did not hear. Watching Seren, Variel watched the woman leave as she waited a moment, ensuring that it was safe to leave before Variel creeped out of the small closet and towards his bed. Her tiny feet barely making any sounds on the ground as she reached the bed before watching him sleep. He seemed so peaceful. Moving to sit on the bed, Variel sighed.
She knew that tomorrow was the big day, so instead of hiding herself as a small animal, Variel curled up against him as she was, raven hair spreading around her head, making her a pillow, as she rested her head gently on his shoulder, squirming to get comfortable, her body against his as she sighed, holding the necklace in between her hands.
"So you finally came out?" He said hoarsly, as Variel jumped a foot up before moving to stare down at him, squinting a tiny bit. As she whispered at him. "You were supposed to be sleeping." He chuckled a bit, attempting not to show the pain of doing such thing as Variel's eyes softened before moving to put the necklace around Cidon's neck, gently, as the long chain easily went around it with Variel's nimble fingers. Clasping it at the front, Variel resting the three charms on Cidon's chest.
"Wha- what are they? " He asked trying to move up and see them, barely able to move as Variel gently pushed him down, and held up the charm. The first one was known as the Archimedes Medallion, a rhombus looking charm, with an Earth in the center, a lightning bolt made of the same gold going through it, as well as an arrow going counter clockwise, a cresent moon and a bird. The second, being know as The Phoenix, another gold charm, it was a bird, with two sets of wings wide spread, each feather delicately carved, and finally was the sherpa's nirvana. A circle, that seemed to have a sun inside of it with 10 separated icons. Variel made sure to have Cidon get a good look at them all before resting them on his chest once more, snuggling up to him again with a sigh.
This felt, right. Even though her mind refused to let her think of the happiness, instead it plagued her with all the things that could go wrong. She barely took note of what Cidon had said until she heard. "-do they mean Variel?" Snuggling closer, head resting in the crook of her neck she slowly began to speak, a calm and non tempermental tone.
"The first one, its to give you strength, give you confidence and well, it will help get your smile back Cidon." Her brain thought of that smile, as she takes a shaky breath continuing, not understanding why her emotions were going out of control. "The second one, its the phoenix. They rise from the ashes, I thought... it should give you luck with the transfer. And the third one I was told is something to help you in later life... but I wasn't sure so I grabbed it anyway." She felt a stray tear on her cheek, as she shook her head, attempting to get it off her face, feeling Cidon's hand on her shoulder, rubbing gently.
"But Variel, what if thisss is a waste? Who knows what could hap-" Cidon tried saying as Variel, stiffened not letting him finished before she screamed at him.
" I KNOW OKAY? YOU COULD DIE, BUT YOU AREN'T! I'M NOT LETTING YOU! STOP THINKING SO NEGATIVELY, YOU MORON! I'M JUST TRYING TO MAKE YOU HAPPY SO YOU DON'T THINK OF THAT!" She breathed heavily, feeling the tears pour. She finally let it out. Variel didn't want him to die, embarrassment ran through her as she clung to him, letting the sobs out a bit, not caring if Cidon noticed her at such a state of weakness.
Variel wasn't aware how long it was until she had finally calmed down, but she looked at him in the eyes, back to the cold and unemotional voice, even though the shakiness was quite apparent. "Just forget it Cidon. Forget I said anything." Sighing she tried smiling, a small one being all she could muster using true emotions, "Now, is there anything Cidon you want?"
She let her hand rest on his one shoulder, laying on her side, other forearm resting on his pillow as he nodded. "Yes, but you'll say no." He let out hoarsly, coughing a bit as she gave him the droll "Just answer me" look. As he sighed before whispering. " Can I kiss you?" The flush was apparent on their faces. Moments of silence flew by, before Cidon let the start of disappointment show on his face, not intentionally. Variel watched him, did she really want to kiss him? Her brain argued with her for a few moments.
Finally, Variel stopped letting her brain decide, she focused on a different organ that was telling her what to do, so she gently pressed her lips against his, one could almost say grazing his, her eyes squeezed shut before she felt Cidon kiss her back, Variel took notice of his lips being a bit dry. She responded by pressing back a little more, the two kept it innocent before Variel pulled away, flushing and avoiding eye contact.
Cidon on the other hand was grinning like he used to, as he felt the tiny girl slump her head against his shoulder again. Cuddling close to him. "Cidon..." She began, hearing the meger noise of what she presumed to be a 'Yes?' continuing she snuggled closer, feeling him move his hand to her shoulder again, not bothering to stop him from this. "I guess I should say, maybe.. maybe I might have feelings for you."
He smiled before he let out a bit of a yawn. " Well, I think maybe I do too." And with that, Cidon closed his eyes, Variel snuggled against him, knowing if Seren saw any of this and got it on camera, that she would need to get those pictures back for herself.
