I am from China, I am studying in the UK, Sheffield Hallam University, MA Design Illustration.
In the study of life, I have find many schools’ gym that clothes use the Chinese “长”. It makes me very interested and would like to know about the situation of Chinese words in UK. And there are many Chinese restaurants in UK, also many China Town in different cities use Chinese words. As far as I know, Hatching Dragons is the UK’s first top quality daycare provider that focuses on a bilingual Mandarin-English delivery method. I think that these are reflected, on behalf of the Chinese culture is increasingly popular in UK, and more and more English people like to use Chinese and interested in it. And in 2015 is the first year about the UK-China Year of Culture Exchange. On this occasion I would like to use professional characteristics, and my major to make a little advance in the Chinese culture, to allow more British people know and love around and accept Chinese culture, and Chinese characters.
In this project, I want to focus on Chinese words. Oracle is now evolved from the use of Chinese characters, through my own way, using illustrations and simple explanations, will express meaning between words, and thus the formation of the text there is an explanation and instructions. This is not just how to write Chinese, how to read Chinese, it is to understand the structure and meaning of the text from a fundamental sense. We hope to bring a different Chinese word to English.
