I redid it again again.
The Ace of Cups - Binah, the endless sea of potentially in its ideal, non actualized form.
Space, water, an infinite dark sea, blood, darkness, a waiting womb, the touch of the Holy Spirit, the influence of the moon

Already redoing them - not surprising. I am not a perfectionist per se but I definitely attach to a better technique/presentation when I stumble upon one. A thinner base pen, with a heavier outline to define the important shapes is a much clearer read. The eye doesn’t get lost in the vagueness of the same soft uniform line work.
Ace of Cups V3
Two cards inked! Color yet to come.
I’m beginning with the 56 lesser cards, starting within those with the aces (the raw core concepts of each suit)
I want to establish pace, style, and get as comfortable as possible with the medium and process before I hit the court cards. I’ll save the Trumps for last.
I created a linoleum block print of my design for the back of my tarot deck, which is a project I wanted to develop for a long time.
However, I determined I really needed to print the backs of the cards first. Printing the backs consistently on existing drawings would be difficult and the risk of damaging the drawing would be pretty high.
I had to toss out my initial lino block because I managed to forget about the mirroring affect from printing, so I had to flip my reference image and then cut it again. However, that turned out to be a good mistake because the second block is much better than the first. I am happy with the results of the first round of printing.
1$ canvas board. Heavy palette knife sculpt base of white base. Acrylic paint wash on top.
