your posts about 'uncle randy' make me so happy. as a funeral major it makes me really upset when people treat cadavers with disrespect. you said it perfectly, and the death care industry could use more people like you and i :) xx
Thank you. Not many lay people know what itโs like working with cadavers, so I think itโs important for those of who do work with them to share our experiences. The dead may not be here anymore, but their bodies represent everything they were as much as they do for the living. And so, to truly appreciate the living for who they are, we have to respect the dead as well. They entrusted us with their bodies for a reason after all.
I know that it is a thing for people to dehumanize cadavers whether because they are trying to cope with facing death before them or because they simply do not understand the sanctity of what these donors have done. But I have hope that eventually everyone will understand why there is no reason to be afraid and see them indeed as human gifts.
