Tharja had never really had anything important to her in her life. And not the way parents are important to a child or how pets are important to their owners. Maybe that was why she had latched on to the first person besides her parents that seemed to show any regard for her. Robin, they were not like the other Shepherds, and they cared about Tharja's allegiance, about her safety. It was quite easy for the dark mage to create a fantasy in her mind in which this general regard for everyone's safety was somehow special towards her.

Of course it did not take long for Tharja to realize that it was not as she seemed, but she was loathe to accept it. Robin had been the first person to try and change the course of Tharja's life.

Eventually though, she had realized that there was one person who was more important than Robin; vastly more important. And that was Noire. Now, Tharja was not the best at expressing love and compassion, but she truly did care deeply for the woman who showed up calling herself Tharja's daughter. Though doubtful at first, it did not take long for the dark mage to believe the young woman.

That was when she had learned of the mother that Noire was raised by, the Tharja twisted by the death of her husband and the destruction of the future world. So bent on revenge that she neglected the only precious thing still living in her life. Tharja was disgusted, though no one would know it, at her future self. She could understand wanting revenge but there was a line and it had been crossed.
