Arriving in Lisbon by Car 2022-10-02 Cudos and much gratitude to my daughter, Christina Porter (@christinalynnporter ) and son-in-law, Galen Miley (@galeforcethunderbundt ) for doing the driving and navigating in Portugal like they were born there. They did an excellent job! Driving (and especially parking) in Lisbon is not for the inexperienced driver or faint of heart. But we made it! And we were very lucky to have been able to rent a lovely remodeled AirBnB apartment in an historic building in a superb location close to the waterfront in Lisbon, that actually had a parking garage. It was touch and go getting our boat of a rental car up the narrowest ramps with the steepest open inside edges that I have ever seen, but Chrissy and Galen managed to get the boat up three levels to its final anchoring position, in one pass, without even appearing fazed. Can’t honestly say the same thing for myself. Thankfully, you really do not need a car in Lisbon, as long as you have strong legs and good lungs, so, we were able to leave the boat parked until it was time to drive to the airport. We were looking forward to Lisbon with its historical landmarks, beautiful churches, seven very steep hills, narrow cobblestone streets, great food, reasonably priced shopping, and lively waterfront. And it did not disappoint. Shown at right: The Sanctuary of Christ the King — Santuário de Cristo Rei is a Catholic monument and shrine dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus Christ overlooking the city of Lisbon situated in Almada, in Portugal. It was inspired by the Christ the Redeemer statue of Rio de Janeiro, in Brazil, after the Cardinal Patriarch of Lisbon visited that monument. Halo negara Asia Tenggara kesebelas saya, Timor Leste! 🇹🇱🇹🇱🇹🇱 Setelah #KhatamAsean tahun 2015 lalu, alhamdulillah hari ini bisa melengkapinya dengan mengunjungi negara Asia Tenggara kesebelas -yang belom masuk ASEAN tapi sudah mengajukan tapi ga tau dah bakal diterima gabung apa nggak. Yaudah pokoknya saya udah lengkap deh Asia Tenggara, horee! ^^ Anyway, di belakang saya itu adalah Christo Del Rei of Dili, Patung Yesus setinggi 27 meter yang merupakan hadiah dari Pak Soeharto dalam peringatan 20 tahun bergabungnya Timor Timur dengan Indonesia. Angka 27 meter sendiri melambangkan Timor Timur sebagai propinsi ke 27 RI. Sampai saat ini, patung yang dirancang oleh Ir Mochamad Syailillah ini masih menjadi landmark utama di Timor Leste. Oh iya, selain datang ke Christo Del Rei ini, saya juga telah mengunjungi rumah Raul Lemos dan Krisdayanti loh.
