News: Another One Bites the Dust; Merchantās Coin Changes Ownership
By Tesse Centirum
Usually, when a business changes hands, it suffers or sees immediate improvements. Unfortunately for the Merchantās Coin, itās become the norm. In the last four years, it has seen over six different owners, most of which only claimed the popular tavern for less than half a year. Now, another challenger has entered the ring.
Scarlet Beckett, originally from Kessex, has bought the Merchantās Coin from Maverra Goldenheart on 32 of Zephyr, 1332 AE. Even though the price has been kept private, Ms. Beckett assured us that sheĀ āgot an excellent dealā.Ā
This isnāt the first tavern that Ms. Beckett has spent time in. According to her interview with The Divinity Daily, Beckett spent the last fourteen months as manager for Maidenās Whisper in Rurikton District and wasĀ āon loanā to Merchantās Coin for about eight months prior to her purchase.Ā
A transaction that seems to be bleeding over into the futureĀ of the popular Salma District tavern. Beckett explained:Ā āThe name remains the same, its such an iconic band at this point we would never dream of changing it. However, I have changed the business substantially in that I have effected a functional merger with the Maidenās Whisper. Prices and inventoryĀ are now the same for the most part between the taverns and staff from either are free to rotate between them as needed or desired.āĀ
Patrons seem to be responding well to the transition. In fact, there is more outstanding support now that Mr. Christopher Page from Maidenās Whisper seems to also have an investment in the Merchantās Coin. Some see the pair of him and Ms. Scarlet Beckett as co-owners, a positive assumption even though the full purchase agreement is confidential.Ā
One Sylvari name Sylvan stated: āIt has needed a strong present figure for a while. Honestly? It is more active now than it has been since I worked here.ā Another, Karigan Gyren, shared that they felt the Merchantās Coin āused to be a significant beacon of chaosā but that with the change in ownership, the tavern has improved for all of everyone.
Buck, long term bartender of the Merchantās Coin, has refused to comment about the ownership transaction.Ā
Despite the run time for most owners, Ms. Beckett seems to be determined to outlast her predecessors. All the power to her, but we at The Divinity Daily will keep our eye on the classifieds for the buildingās next listing.
The curious life of bells in the Middle Ages. Did you know they were personified? They had names, their parts were described in terms of human anatomy, and they were punished if they correctly perform their duties!

messages from the past
I was just digging through my old Myspace messages, and came across a sweet note from my dearly departed friend Christopher Page. I miss him so much.
February 24, 2004:
I want dinner with you. Sushi? I want drinks with you. Saki? Shots of pure maple syrup? I want to reserve a place and time to be with you and dance to no music and hitch a ride on some old man's horse-drawn buggy and stick bubblegum to the horsies (because the idea of the stable boy having to rub peanut butter on horses amuses me to no end) and then go running with you to the gas station near your house to buy white chocolate Reese's Peanut Butter Cups because our craving transcends using cars. In other words, damn, when do I get to see you again? - Meeeeeee p.s. - Have you heard the band Metric yet?
