“And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write, ‘These things says He who is holy, He who is true, “He who has the key of David, He who opens and no one shuts, and shuts and no one opens”: “I know your works. See, I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it; for you have a little strength, have kept My word, and have not denied My name.
-Revelation 3:7-8 NKJV
Felt like God was telling me to read Revelation recently and each day I try to read a little bit.
Yesterday I saw these verses and was greatly encouraged. I was reminded of the power and might of God. How if He wants something done, it WILL get done and NO one can stop Him.
Being in a situation where people are doubting me, letting me know their negative thoughts/opinions/concerns, sending me videos of why my situation might not pan out etc etc. has been exhausting. But I look to God and His Word. I am working on putting my focus and trust in Him and not what anyone says.
I'm working on allowing myself to be freely used by God. I know His plan is the best, and no matter what anyone says or does, if God's in it, you can't stop Him.
“Jesus is not Zeus. He was a sinless man, not a sinless Superman. He woke up with bed head. He had pimples at thirteen. He never would have appeared on the cover of Men’s Health (he had “no beauty that we should desire him,” Isa. 53:2). He came as a normal man to normal men. He knows what it is to be thirsty, hungry, despised, rejected, scorned, shamed, embarrassed, abandoned, misunderstood, falsely accused, suffocated, tortured, and killed. He knows what it is to be lonely. His friends abandoned him when he needed them most; had he lived today, every last Twitter follower and Facebook friend would have un-friended him when he turned thirty-three - he who will never un-friend us.”
- Dane Ortlund, Gentle and Lowly: The Heart of Christ for Sinners and Sufferers, p. 47
To all my Christian mutuals - reply to or reblog this post with your favorite Bible verse or quote from a Christian author or pastor that really impacts and helps you. I'm starting a Christian quotes journal and would love some suggestions :)
Fundamentally, we believe that the Bible deserves the highest possible honor as the richest, deepest, most powerful book every written - there are simply no contenders. It is a literary masterpiece, a magnum opus, a stellar performance. But there's more to the story. The ultimate importance of the Bible lies elsewhere: it is the inspired revelation of Almighty God, a heavenly treasure in a world of impoverished ideas, a sparkling mountain stream in the driest of deserts. Our point, however, is not to worship the Bible; we worship the God of the Bible

“A naturalistic Christianity leaves out all that is specifically Christian.”
C.S. Lewis, Miracles, 108.
'Now I make known to you, brothers, the gospel which I proclaimed as good news to you, which also you received, in which also you stand, by which also you are saved, if you hold fast the word which I proclaimed to you as good news, unless you believed for nothing. For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that He appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. After that He appeared to more than five hundred brothers at one time, most of whom remain until now, but some have fallen asleep. After that, He appeared to James, then to all the apostles, and last of all, as to one untimely born, He appeared to me also. ' 1 Corinthians 15:1-8 https://my.bible.com/bible/3345/1CO.15.1-8
Not me getting emotional while reading John 17 and contemplating how much Jesus loves us, no siree :')
