Cultures, in effect, are a larger mirror of gang psychology, which insists that one inflict pain on another to show loyalty to the brotherhood. In the face of an uncaring world, we go to further extremes to belong-anywhere, to anything that relieves us of the pain connected to aloness. How willing we are to "sell our Souls" in the exchange!

Blame and punishment are two very destructive energies that poison us. Though we often feel punished by our parents, we quickly learn to punish them, as well as placing blame on them for what we do and who we are.

The future of our societies depends on our internalizing goodness and responsibility, not the impotence of external control that would shame us into compliance.

The New World will not come to us. We will have to call it forth through the power of our commitment to global consciousness.
