Before you attack someone for cultural appropriation, think about what you really want and the implications of your requests:
Do you want designer Christopher Bu to only be able to dress Chinese people? Or stop using Chinese elements in his designs? If not, why would you criticize stars who he dresses who isn’t Chinese?
Should photographer Chen Man and Zhang Yue be forced to limit their subject matter to Chinese people? Or not use any element of their culture, their signature look, when working with non-Chinese people? Should foreign magazines and artists stop hiring them? If not, why would you criticize stars who they photograph who isn’t Chinese?
Do these artists not have just as much claim to their culture as you, and why should you limit what they can and cannot use in their pieces of work?
If you say it’s fine because they’re Chinese artists, then how do you know if someone wearing a cheongsam isn’t wearing one made by a Chinese company? Do you think those companies can’t produce things that includes parts of their culture? Can they only mass-produce things that are solely rooted in Western culture?
P.S. Cheongsam isn’t even Han Chinese. It’s modified Manchu dress modified to fit with Western fashion.
End rant.
