Chocolate and Mallows
The scent of it calms my senses.
Between my hands, I hold our mug. I look deep into its contents and just stare. You are the lake of chocolate. The pieces of me; the mallows swimming in it, slowly melting until you and I become one. The swirl of life continues. No sugar for me, please. I inhale the sweet aroma. I am plunged into the pool of my warmest memories.
The wind comes and caresses my cheek, ruffles my hair. I raise a toast to acknowledge its presence. My constant companion, chilling the nights, never my body. I bring the rim to my lips now. I am propelled upwards to the heights of clean, quiet pleasure as soon as the first sip hits me, clearing away the pallor of cheeks with life and burning color. Knocked off my feet, I scramble to stand. Weak knees, I quiver. My whole body is shaking.
In the dying light, a familiar, faint whiff in the air.
I thought I'd caught a glimpse of you... my lips remain dry.
