“And now a very curious thing happened. None of the children knew who Aslan was any more than you do; but the moment the Beaver had spoken these words everyone felt quite different.”

Obsessed with this quote (insp.)
Absolutely obsessed with this quote
Headcanon where Susan takes their first return to England particularly hard. She’s now basically a 30 year old in a 15 year old’s body (movie-verse at least) and she’s used to being a queen. Before and after they return home from the Professor’s, she becomes even more of a second mother to the others than before, being there for when they need something Mrs. Pevensie may not be able to help with.
- She’s constantly reminding Lucy to sit up straighter, be polite, and act like a young lady when necessary.
- She makes sure Edmund has enough books, and always gets him a new one as a gift. Mrs. Pevensie didn’t remember him loving to read so much, especially not about law and strategy.
- She sits up with Peter when he can’t sleep, and she wakes up early to converse with him on whether an English sunrise can even compete with a Narnian sunrise. He just needs someone to talk to.
- She (sneakily) offers up some dish ideas and helps Mrs. Pevensie fix meals so that the four children can eat Narnian food. While the flavor and color of the ingredients aren’t as rich, it comes quite close.
But the three also help her cope
- Lucy (who has a fantastic memory, as it has been previously stated by the fandom) paints, draws, and writes about things she knows Susan misses about Narnia. There’s artwork in all of their rooms of Lantern Waste, Cair Paravel, balls, particular friends of theirs, the places Susan loved to sit and drink tea depending on which view she wanted and what season it was. And even though she draws dozens of Aslans, each one looks different.
- Edmund helps her organize. Decoration in Narnia is slightly different than in our world, and Susan always loved to talk or sing while she cleaned. She finds it helpful to stop at every little object and talk about how the pencil reminds her of the time they tried to show Lucy how to write with Narnian ink pens and ended up with ink all over them, the shirt almost looks like the bodice of a beautiful dress Susan received on her 21st birthday, and Ed knows the right thing to say at the right time, sometimes letting Susan just cry on his shoulder.
- Peter dances with her. It was one of her favorite things about Narnia, and he can see that the longer they’re in England, the harder it is for her. She wants to deal with it by shoving it into the back of her mind. But he doesn’t let her forget for long. He begins a sort of funny representation of a slow dance, always garnering a laugh and it isn’t long before Ed and Lu join in. He sees a sparkle come back into Susan’s eyes as Mrs. Pevensie comments on their originality. It’s because of him that she remembered Narnia for as long as she did. Without her big brother, she would have truly forgotten a lot sooner.
There is a house built out of stone..

“’This is lovely,’ said Lucy to herself. It was cool and fresh; delicious smells were floating everywhere. Somewhere close by she heard the twitter of a nightingale beginning to sing, then stopping, then beginning again. It was a little lighter ahead. She went towards the light and came to a place where there were fewer trees, and whole patches or pools of moonlight, but the moonlight and the shadows so mixed that you could hardly be sure where anything was or what it was. At the same moment the nightingale, satisfied at last with his tuning up, burst into full song”

This whole Pevensie death plot twist still wrecks me. I’m 18 - it’s been ten years! Ugh😭
