Brigitte really meant it when the she said the elders didn’t want to be bothered or their time wasted unless they were ready to get the task done. When he and Summer would ender their meeting shack they would literally ask if they were ready to accept what has been asked of them now and when they said yes, that was it. One walked right up to him and just did it without further ado. There was no ceremony or ritual. It was just a reach up and cut it out of his face. 

However, they did guess wrong on which eye was the lead eye. They took an educated guess that it was the topaz eye because that’s the one that Flotsam stabbed with a fork and lost his sight temporarily with. So, they thought it might be the same. They were wrong. Sadly, River had to go through two gouges. He still had the sight after first pop. So, they’d go for the other way around. He’d get to keep the topaz eye and Summer would still be able to look to the topaz lining when she looked at River’s face. But, what this also meant was something did mutate different in the children when the magic was passed from Jet/Flo. Brigitte herself would keep the other eye safe from harm and locked away. 

This would also leave River completely blind for a day while his other eye healed back, but that wasn’t such a big deal. In another day’s time River was all patched up with his topaz eye a shining sporting his new pirate look that he was ready to make Willem jealous with. 

But, it would be then that River and Summer were finally released from the elders cabin making sure he could see at all that they made it back to Chip’s. CHIP’S FINALLY. They only got a two second look when they first got to camp because they promised to go straight to the elders and they followed through. But, now they were getting the same tour the dads did. There were several empty rooms waiting to be finished. But, one was River and Summer’s. Chip would say, “Sorry there’s not more in it. We didn’t expect you guys to be coming so soon.” 

There were no windows. It was near the center of the house for safety since this wasn’t the sort of home that had a basement. There was only a bed and a side table, and a few shelves in it, a couple of lamps. 

The girls were at temple at would be home soon. “We going to at least go back for your drum kit before your house gets done? You without your kit is just weird.” 

River would laugh. “Yeah, we can that.” 

So, he goes outside where she’s out in the sun and sits on a stump nearby and stares at her.

Commence odd staring and strange silence before he finally says, “So, I was thinking about how everyone won’t shut up about how worried they are your self esteem sucks and you think you’re worthless and not worth all this trouble. 

“I don’t know if they’re right or not, but if you think that, you’re wrong. It’s too late. Now you have to be worth it. Even if you never believed you were before. You just have to make yourself be worth it all now because it’s already done. Scout got hurt because of you. My favorite chicken got sacrificed to heal you. He had a great little rooster life running around being the biggest cock to all those hens. You can not want it forever and it doesn’t matter. It’s a done deal. Now it’s your job to be worth it. Get it? 

“So, see? Glad we got that cleared up. You can’t not be worth everything now because then everyone would have gone through it all for nothing and you wouldn’t hurt people like that. Chip would leave a vase of wildflowers in downstairs for Summer with a note.
