RED WHITE BLUE USA USA USA USA
my country is a trainwreck that i haven’t felt proud of since i was old enough to understand politics but i will answer your flag-coloured asks anyway
Red: What type of writer’s block do you experience the most?
the kind where i like, have an idea of where i want to end up but getting there is like walking through waist-deep swamp goo. nothing sounds right, dialogue sucks, etc etc. i also go through periods of like, it just takes me 500 years to write because i can’t pay attention? but i don’t know if that’s writer’s block or my brain being shitty. if i go more than two days struggling with scene/s i try to take that as a hint that it’s not working and scrap it and try something else. so far it works…ok. i actually had to scrap half a chapter last night and it already sounds/feels a lot more natural and flows better .
White: Are you a supporter/lover of fanfiction?
i love fanfic but i really only seek it out if i’m actively in a fandom. which i am right now, so i’ve made it my routine to hit up ao3 before bed every night and see what’s new in the tag. it’s relaxing :) i also have written fanfic in the past and love it, but for some reason my current fandom i haven’t really had any ideas for stories? and the ones i do kinda start to have, someone’s already done it and way better than i would have, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ i’m not really bummed by this; i’m actually really enjoying reading works by some of the talented-ass people out there and it’s not making me feel self-conscious cos i’m fairly confident in my writing.
Blue: What’s more important to you: characters or plot?
mmmm i think they’re both equally important? sometimes good characters can save a shitty plot, but shitty characters can ruin a good plot. but ultimately those are the two biggest driving forces of a story, so try to make them the best you can!?
