A PCBA factory visit can reveal details that are difficult to evaluate through an equipment list alone.
On July 30, 2026, a visitor from Singapore toured Shenzhen STHL Technology Co., Ltd. (STHL) to review the company's manufacturing workflow and quality-control practices.
The visit began with the electronic component kitting area and continued through the SMT production lines and THT/DIP assembly area. The visitor also reviewed several quality checkpoints positioned across the production process.
These included incoming quality control (IQC), solder paste inspection (SPI), pre-reflow inspection, first article inspection, and MES-based production traceability.
Each checkpoint serves a different purpose.
Incoming inspection supports material review before production. SPI provides process feedback after solder paste printing and before component placement. Pre-reflow inspection allows relevant placement conditions to be reviewed before the populated board enters the reflow oven.
First article inspection provides an early opportunity to check the initial assembled board before the rest of the batch proceeds. MES supports record visibility by helping connect relevant manufacturing and inspection information with a specific board for applicable projects.
MES does not replace physical inspection, and no single checkpoint controls every manufacturing risk. The value lies in how these activities work together across material preparation, PCB Assembly, inspection, and production record management.
