Currently reading ajonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell and this book is INSANE.
My edition is 846 pages long.
Jonathan Strange doesn't show up until p. 137. Mr. Norrell is hardly main character material, certainly not enough to carry more than 100 pages on his own, and yet I never considered DNFing.
John Segundus seems like a minor character used as a device to introduce the main character of Norrell . . . Except then he keeps showing up, in increasingly significant ways.
All of the most dramatic scenes are skipped over instead of shown. We don't get to see Jonathan's proposal to Arabella or their wedding, we don't even see his reaction her (spoiler). But we do get to see Jonathan argue with his brother-in-law.
Childermass. Just - Childermass.

Hello Jonathan Strange community. I met Paul Kaye (Vinculus) at a comic con today and can report he said if the show did better during airing there were gonna be talks of a Childermass & Vinculus centred season 2 😭😭
I still would have loved hispanic Olruggio. But as a fan of both Nine and Childermass, I do feel a lot of love for the dub's northern accent.
